French hybrid electric plane picks up US order
French start-up Aura Aero announced Tuesday that US regional airline JSX has signed a letter of intent to purchase 50 of its hybrid-electric planes.
The deal, which includes an option for a further 100 aircraft, takes to nearly 500 the number of the 19-seater Electric Regional Aircraft (ERA).
The aircraft, which sports eight propellors and can take off on battery power, aims to deliver an 80-percent reduction in CO2 emissions from current regional aircraft.
The aircraft is currently in development. The first flight is planned for 2026 and entry into service in 2028.
JSX is a Texas-based firm that offers premium service from private terminals using small regional jets.
Aviation is one of the most difficult industries to decarbonise, with the development of sustainable aviation fuel the leading method being looked at by researchers.

Russia and China no longer using dollar in trade – Mishustin
Image Credit: Getty Images / alptraum
Western currencies have almost been completely phased out in Russia-China trade, as nearly all payments between the countries are now carried out in rubles and yuan, according to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The statement was made during a meeting on Tuesday with his Chinese counterpart, Li Qiang. The Russian PM is on a two-day visit to Beijing for a scheduled meeting of Russian and Chinese heads of government.
“We continue to increase the share of national currencies in mutual settlements. If in 2020 this figure was about 20%, then this year we have actually completely gotten rid of the currencies of third countries in mutual settlements,” Mishustin stated.
He also mentioned strengthening business relations, recalling that a joint business forum held in Shanghai in May attracted more than 1,500 entrepreneurs from both countries.
“We are creating comfortable conditions for the work of commercial firms on the Russian and Chinese markets. We have an extensive joint agenda,” Mishustin emphasized.
In turn, Li Qiang noted that cooperation between Moscow and Beijing continues to strengthen and is becoming increasingly important against the backdrop of “global turbulence.”
Russia and its trade partners have started to switch to alternative currencies in mutual trade after sanctions effectively cut Moscow off from the Western financial system. A growing number of nations are turning to national currency settlements in trade.

No Russia at Davos – ambassador

Russia will again be absent from the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos early next year, Russian Ambassador to Switzerland Sergey Garmonin has confirmed.
The high-profile gathering of international business and political figures is scheduled to take place at the Swiss Alpine resort between January 15 and 19.
“Russia will not be represented at the World Economic Forum in Davos, since the organizers didn’t send invitations to the Russians last year and this year,” Garmonin told TASS news agency on Tuesday.
Russia skipped Davos 2023 after the organizers said its participation at the event would be “unwelcome” due to Moscow’s military operation in Ukraine. According to the WEF, its relations with Russian firms sanctioned due to conflict were frozen.
The ambassador said he didn’t think Russia would lose anything by missing out on the WEF again in 2024. “In my opinion, only the forum itself loses from such a decision,” he said. According to Garmonin, Moscow “will continue to solve… problems in other formats and on other platforms.”
The diplomat also criticized plans by the Swiss organizers to hold a meeting dedicated to discussions about Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s ten-point peace plan to settle the conflict with Russia. Meetings like this “are divorced from reality and lack any added value. They will not bring peace any closer,” he argued.
Zelensky’s “peace formula” calls for Russia’s withdrawal from all territories claimed by Kiev, reparations from Moscow, and a war crimes tribunal.
Ukraine “is in no position to put forward any ultimatums to Russia, and everyone understands this perfectly well,” Garmonin insisted. “The Kiev regime, which has no hopes of achieving even the slightest success on the battlefield, is denying the obvious and feeding the West with unfeasible projects in its attempts to solicit yet another military assistance package.”
Russia’s Deputy UN Ambassador Dmitry Polyanskiy said last week that Kiev had squandered its chances of a “favorable” agreement with Moscow. “Any possible deal now will be reflecting its capitulation,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter.)
During his Q&A session on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin insisted that “there will be peace [in Ukraine] when we achieve our goals.” The aims of the Russian military operation “are not changing,” and include the “denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine, its neutral status,” Putin reiterated.

Trump Campaign Statement on The Colorado Supreme Court Ruling
"Unsurprisingly, the all-Democrat appointed Colorado Supreme Court has ruled against President Trump, supporting a Soros-funded, left-wing group’s scheme to interfere in an election on behalf of Crooked Joe Biden by removing President Trump’s name from the ballot and eliminating the rights of Colorado voters to vote for the candidate of their choice. Democrat Party leaders are in a state of paranoia over the growing, dominant lead President Trump has amassed in the polls. They have lost faith in the failed Biden presidency and are now doing everything they can to stop the American voters from throwing them out of office next November. The Colorado Supreme Court issued a completely flawed decision tonight and we will swiftly file an appeal to the United States Supreme Court and a concurrent request for a stay of this deeply undemocratic decision. We have full confidence that the U.S. Supreme Court will quickly rule in our favor and finally put an end to these unAmerican lawsuits.”

Democrats Pressure Justice Clarence Thomas to Recuse Himself From Trump’s Supreme Court Case
Several Democrats in the House are urging Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to recuse himself from the case involving whether former President Donald Trump is immune from prosecution.
In a letter Monday, the House Democrats “strongly implore you to exercise your discretion and recuse yourself from this and any other decisions in the case of United States v. Trump,” the Democrats, including Representatives Hank Johnson (D-Ga.), Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), wrote in the statement.
The letter added that “if you want to show the American people that the Supreme Court’s recent Code of Conduct is worth more than the paper it is written on, you must do the honorable thing and recuse yourself from any decisions in the case.” Senate Democrats sent a similar letter to Justice Thomas last week, making similar demands.
Last month, the Supreme Court gave the green light to a code of ethics. In this code, justices commit to recusing themselves from a case when “impartiality might reasonably be questioned.”
The code of ethics also states that “a Justice should disqualify himself or herself in a proceeding in which the Justice’s impartiality might reasonably be questioned.”
This includes situations where a justice is aware that their spouse has “an interest that could be substantially affected” by the decision or could serve as a material witness, according to the Democratic lawmakers.
They allege that Justice Thomas’s wife, Ginni, is heavily involved in Republican political circles and attended a Trump rally after the 2020 election.
During her congressional testimony, Ms. Thomas stated in September 2022 that she was “certain I never spoke with [Justice Thomas] about any of the challenges to the 2020 election, as I was not involved in those challenges in any way.”
Ms. Thomas asserted that the Supreme Court justice had no knowledge of the text messages she shared with former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows. She also claimed that the House Jan. 6 sub-committee had “leaked them to the press while my husband was in a hospital bed fighting an infection.”
The letter came approximately one week after special counsel Jack Smith requested the Supreme Court to clarify “whether a former President is absolutely immune from federal prosecution for crimes committed while in office or is constitutionally protected from federal prosecution when he has been impeached but not convicted before the criminal proceedings begin.” The court accepted the case, establishing a December 20 deadline for President Trump’s legal team to submit their response.
Justice Thomas, appointed by former President George H.W. Bush, and the court have not released public statements regarding the letters.
In October, Justice Thomas opted not to participate in the court’s decision not to hear a case related to former Trump attorney John Eastman. It’s worth noting that Mr. Eastman had earlier worked as a clerk for Justice Thomas.
One of the four criminal cases confronting President Trump as he once more vies for the White House is challenging a federal judge’s recent decision.
The judge rejected the former president’s attempt to dismiss the case, arguing that he cannot be prosecuted for official actions taken during his presidency.
Federal prosecutors have urged the U.S. Supreme Court to skip the appeals court and promptly decide on the immunity claim. They argued that the former president’s appeals are attempts to delay the trial until after next year’s election.

US SPACE COMMAND REACHES FULL OPERATIONAL CAPABILITY
SOURCE: THE EPOCH TIMES
It's the Pentagon’s newest and 11th combat command.
The U.S. Space Command, the Pentagon’s newest and 11th combatant command, has reached full operating capability, according to its commander, Army Gen. James Dickinson.
Gen. Dickinson made the declaration during a headquarters town hall on Dec. 15, according to a statement. The U.S. Space Command (USSPACECOM) was created in 2019 at the direction of former President Donald Trump.
“Since its establishment in 2019, USSPACECOM has been singularly focused on delivering exquisite capability to the joint force to deter conflict, defend our vital interests, and, if necessary, defeat aggression,” Gen. Dickinson said.
“Thanks to the disciplined initiative of our people and the support of our joint, combined, and partnered team, I can confidently say we have reached full operational capability.”
He explained that the announcement followed an “in-depth evaluation of the command’s capabilities,” including the ability to execute its mission on “our worst day, when we are needed the most.”
The declaration of full operating capability met certain criteria, including having the appropriate numbers of skills across the human capital and having the necessary command processes and functions in place, according to Gen. Dickinson.
He named China and Russia both as key adversaries whose space capabilities pose a threat to the United States.
“As the command has matured, challenges to a safe, secure, stable, and sustainable space domain have significantly increased,” Gen. Dickinson said. “Both the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation are fielding counter space capabilities designed to hold U.S., Allied, and partner space assets at risk.”
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has said that it'll become a “major space power” sometime around 2030 and that it's planning to double the size of its space station in the next few years.
Rick Fisher, a senior fellow at the International Assessment and Strategy Center, in a commentary published by The Epoch Times last month, warned that “China has no hesitation to arm its space stations and other large manned space platforms, including its bases on the moon and beyond,” no matter what China’s state-run media have stated.
“Until the CCP expires or abandons its ambitions for hegemony on Earth, the United States and its partners in space will need to achieve security, meaning they will require military capabilities in space to use against Beijing’s manned and unmanned space systems intended to attack the democracies,” Mr. Fisher added.
The command had completed its first training exercise with the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, which “served as a major step in validating the headquarters staff as a ready, joint force,” Gen. Dickinson said.
“Our work continues,” he said. “As the complexity of the domain grows, so must our capability to deliver operational and strategic effects to our nation and preserve the safety and stability of the domain.”
In July, President Joe Biden said the U.S. Space Command’s headquarters would remain at Peterson Air Force in Colorado Springs, Colorado, reversing President Trump’s plans to move it to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.

ROLLS-ROYCE IN TALKS TO BUILD MINI-NUKE PLANTS IN UKRAINE
SOURCE: ZEROHEDGE
While Germany shuttered the last of its nuclear power plants this year, like idiots, British aerospace and defense company Rolls Royce is in talks with Ukraine's largest power company to build a series of mini nuclear plants across the country - including two sites currently occupied by Russia, The Telegraph reports.
Image Credit: DTEK boss Maxim Timchenko is seeking to establish a partnership with Rolls to convert coal powered station to nuclear Credit: Paul Grover
Ukraine's DTEK, owned by billionaire oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, has held early-stage, and obviously ambitious, discussions with Rolls about the small modular reactors (SMRs) at sites which are currently using coal power stations. CEO Maxim Timchenko says he expects nuclear power to constitute a vital part of DTEKs future portfolio amid the rebuilding of Ukraine, as the country shifts away from fossil fuels.
SMRs under development are a new and commercially-unproven technology that wouldn't be deployed until 2030 at the earliest.
DTEK and Rolls are examining whether up to eight existing coal power station sites, two of them currently in territory occupied by Russia, could eventually be converted to house SMRs in the 2030s.
It comes as Ukraine is scrambling to deploy less centralised and more renewable sources of energy, such as wind and solar farms, in the face of a targeted bombing campaign by Russia to take out grid infrastructure during the harsh winter months. -The Telegraph
DTEK began generating wind power in May at the Tyligulska wind farm, located around 60 miles from the frontline of the war. This month the company announced plans to quadruple the site's output capacity.
Timchenko went against the climate cult, saying that while renewables remain a key to boosting energy security in Ukraine - as wind turbines make for more difficult targets than large coal power plants, a large portion of Ukraine's power will need to come from 'less intermittent' sources such as nuclear.
"We are trying to find a way to install these SMRs," he told The Telegraph, adding "From our side, we have quite a big capacity of coal-fired power stations and we are in discussions with Rolls-Royce SMR to convert [them]."
Ukraine is already heavily reliant on nuclear, with four state-owned plants generating more than half of the country's power before the Russian invasion. One of the sites, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, is currently sitting in occupied territory.
Via The Telegraph
As part of the current discussions, DTEK is seeking to establish some of the supply chain in Ukraine, which has significant expertise with nuclear engineering.
"The details of these discussions are commercially confidential," Rolls-Royce SMR told the outlet.
DTEK is also understood to have held talks with other companies developing SMRs.
The company provides one fifth of Ukraine’s electricity, largely through coal plants, but its infrastructure has come under heavy fire from Russian forces since the conflict erupted in February 2022.
Talks with Rolls emerged as bidders in the UK competition to fund SMR designs were told that the next stage is being pushed back.
Six companies including Rolls are vying to build government-funded SMR projects. They were expecting to submit a formal tender this month but have now been told the process will start in January. -The Telegraph
A spokesman for Great British Nuclear told the outlet that 'The next phase of the competition will launch as soon as possible and we look forward to receiving vendor bids."

Multi-millionaire baby boomers with dementia seeing fortunes disappear as financial predators like JPMorgan Chase destroy their portfolios
The baby boomer generation is getting up there in age, and so are the portfolios of many of these older people who just so happened to ride the wave of the housing and financial bubble to millionaire and sometimes multi-millionaire status. But are their finances being managed properly?
A new report from Bloomberg tells the story of Peter Doelger, who by the age of 78 was worth around $50 million. Doelger built his own company, sold it to a conglomerate and successfully bet the proceeds on stocks and oil.
Doelger is doing well financially but not mentally. His family says he started to show signs of dementia around the time he made his fortune, and after signing it all over to JPMorgan Chase & Co. to manage, Doelger's holdings dwindled in value all the way down to around $1.5 million.
The family's claim is that Doelger's fortune was mismanaged by JPMorgan without his knowledge. Financial experts at the banking giant were supposed to keep Doelger's money and holdings intact and growing, but instead they allegedly whittled it down to just about nothing.
In the end, Doelger and his family had to sell their Boston condominium and move in with relatives since his fortune is now a thing of the past. And apparently this kind of thing is happening more and more as wealthy baby boomers on the verge of dementia get taken advantage of by the corrupt financial system.
"We had 100 percent trust in them that they will manage our assets," stated Peter's wife Yoon about Doelger's relationship with JPMorgan. "We didn't expect them to make us a fortune but at least make us comfortable."
Wall Street, a den of vipers
The Doelgers are now fighting it out legally in Boston federal court to try to hold JPMorgan accountable for letting a wealthy client sliding into dementia to lose almost his entire fortune at the company's hands. The Doelgers' hope is that JPMorgan will eventually be forced to pay out at least some of what was lost.
Peter, who is now 86, can barely even remember what happened leading up to this point. In an interview, he attempted to tell the story of how he built his business, but got lost in the conversation trying to explain what happened after that, including his relationship with JPMorgan.
A court-ordered exam declared Peter unable to testify in the litigation, and both sides of the case have agreed not to contest this ruling.
"The couple's situation spotlights an issue that has always lurked on Wall Street but is surging in scale as the baby boom generation retires with a record stockpile of wealth," Bloomberg reports.
"Legions of boomers have enough saved to be deemed 'accredited' or 'sophisticated' investors under U.S. securities laws, qualifying them to buy into riskier, complex asset classes with juicy commissions for intermediaries. Yet many of those clients will inevitably face cognitive decline. The industry lacks a formal system to detect when that happens."
A Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) study on financial sophistication found that households of accredited investors who are at least 80 years in age typically score far worse on competency tests than unaccredited investors a few decades younger.
"This case screams out for more attention to how waning cognitive abilities affect older people's capacity for financial decision-making and independent financial management," commented Naomi Karp, a consultant on aging, law and policy who worked as an analyst for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, about the Doelger case.
"We need to put more responsibility on financial firms since they are well-positioned to detect warning signs."

CNN calls for “carbon passports” to control human movement: “It’s time to limit how often we can travel abroad”
Fears about a warming planet have prompted CNN to issue a travel advisory to Americans: stop flying abroad or the planet will melt.
A recent CNN article by Ross Bennett-Cook proposes the issuance of "carbon passports" to regulate how often Americans are allowed to travel internationally before their "footprint" exceeds whatever arbitrary limits the globalist billionaires decide are necessary for their human slave herd.
Bennett-Cook says Americans should start voluntarily limiting their travels even now without carbon passports because eventually it will be a requirement, or so he says.
"Holidaymakers should prepare to change their travel habits now, before this change is forced upon them," Bennett-Cook writes.
"The negative impacts of tourism on the environment have become so severe that some are suggesting drastic changes to our travel habits are inevitable."
You will own and do nothing and be happy
Bennett-Cook cited a report looking at the future of so-called "sustainable" travel. It concluded that a carbon passport of the kind Bennett-Cook is proposing will eventually become a reality if the tourism industry hopes to survive.
In the new "green" world order, poor people will be heavily restricted in everything they do, say and eat. The rich, conversely, will still be jaunting around in their private jets gorging on the finest steaks, caviar and other delicacies.
A carbon passport would assign each individual traveler a certain yearly allowance of travel credits that cannot be exceeded. The assigned allowances would essentially "ration" people's travel to ensure that the carbon footprint of the planet remains under a certain level.
In the United States, the average annual carbon footprint per person is 16 tons, one of the highest in the world. The United Kingdom clocks in at 11.7 tons, which is still more than five times the figure recommended by the Paris Agreement.
"... the average global carbon footprint needs to drop to under two tons by 2050," Bennett-Cook writes. "This figure equates to around two roundtrip flights between London and New York."
By the year 2040, travel agent Intrepid Travel predicts that carbon passports will be fully implemented. Ticket prices to fly overseas will be notably higher by then as well, having to increase by 1.4 percent every year in order to achieve climate targets.
Some European countries are already moving in this direction, including Belgium which increased taxes on short-haul flights earlier this year. The goal is to deter non-billionaires from flying and to seek alternative forms of travel such as bus or train.
In France, short-haul domestic flights are banned whenever the same trip can be made by train in two-and-a-half hours or less. Spain, we are told, is planning to follow suit.
Germany is another European country that appears to be on board with the climate agenda. A YouGov poll supposedly found that 70 percent of Germans support similar restrictions on short-haul travel to fight global warming if alternative methods of traveling, i.e., trains or ships, are available.
The irony of pushing everyday people to take boats rather than airplanes whenever possible to fight climate change is the fact that cruise ships pump four times more sulfuric gas into the atmosphere than airplanes.
"Let's substitute carbon passports for all diplomatic passports," wrote a commenter in opposition to green tyranny.
"How should this be named: Asinine Earth-Saving Proposal No. 79? Or is the number much higher?" joked another.
"I am against anything that gives the government more power or authority over me," wrote another.
Man-made climate change is a myth.

WEF/AWWA Utility Management 2024
February 13, 2024 - February 16, 2024
Oregon Convention Center | Portland, Oregon
WEF and AWWA are delighted to welcome you to Portland, Oregon, for another exciting and informative event focused on water and wastewater utilities.
Wastewater To Drinking Water Approved By California Regulators
On Tuesday, California regulators unanimously approved rules for water agencies to recycle wastewater and repurpose it for drinking water.
“The California State Water Resources Control Board voted to approve regulations that would streamline ‘direct potable reuse’ (DPR) — a method by which purified wastewater is released right into a public water system or just upstream from a treatment plant,” The Hill reports.
DPR was dubbed “toilet-to-tap.”
“California approves treated potty water for drinking water. 21st century green hell, here we come!” Steve Milloy commented.
More from The Hill:
“We’ve been working on these regulations for over 10 years now, making sure that it’s absolutely protective of public health,” Darrin Polhemus, deputy director of the board’s division of drinking water, said at the Tuesday hearing.
This will also hardly be the first instance of repurposing sewage in California.
Utilities in the Golden State and around the country have long practiced “indirect potable reuse,” the injection of treated wastewater into environmental buffers — such as groundwater aquifers or lakes — before its discharge into a public system.
Unlike indirect potable reuse, however, DPR does not use an underground aquifer or any type of environmental storage barrier.
Instead, the process involves either sending purified wastewater directly into a treatment plant or first blending it with other water sources — a milder alternative known as “raw water augmentation” — prior to doing so.

"Worst-Case Scenario" Volcano Erupts In Iceland Near Power Plant
A volcano in the southwestern region of Iceland erupted on Monday, sending geysers of hot lava as high as 330 feet. The eruption was located near the Svartsengi geothermal power plant near the town of Grindavík, which was evacuated last month over an increase in seismic activity, the NY Times reports.
"We are looking at a worst-case scenario," said Icelanding volcanologist, Thorvaldur Thordarson, adding "The eruption appears big, and only about two kilometers from major infrastructure."
Over the past two months, thousands of earthquakes have been detected in Iceland, leading to the November evacuations as homes and roads were damaged by the events. The situation deteriorated so rapidly that authorities declared a state of emergency, evacuating Grindavík - home to more than 3,000 people who live near the volcano.
Recently, the Meteorological office warned of a "significant likelihood of a volcanic eruption in coming days."
In just the past two years, there have been three eruptions on the Reykjanes Peninsula, Iceland’s most populated corner and home to its capital. When Grindavik was ordered evacuated on Nov. 11, the authorities said in a statement that the country was “highly prepared for such events.” -NYT
"Iceland has one of the world’s most effective volcanic preparedness measures," reads the local website.
Authorities also raised the aviation alert to orange due to dangers posed by the volcano to passing aircraft flying in the North Atlantic in the event ash is spewed in the sky.
In 2010, Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano erupted after being dormant for nearly two centuries. While nobody died, the impact was significant as the resultant ash cloud grounded much of Europe's air travel for over a week.
Iceland has around 400,000 residents and 130 or so volcanoes. In fact, since the 19th century, there hasn't been a single decade without one erupting. According to the tourist website, eruptions are "entirely random."

SUPPLY CHAIN CHAOS: Key global electrical products supplier announces 20-week DELAY for many components
The world’s second largest manufacturer of electrical components has announced a 20-week delay for “engineered-to-order” (ETO) components.
Schneider Electric produces electrical products that are absolutely critical for daily life: things like electrical infrastructure, industrial automation, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and so much more rely on parts made by Schneider Electric – without them, the world as we currently know it will cease to exist.
ETO projects are essential to both public and private infrastructure. The power grid, for one, requires them. Any kind of delay in their production and delivery means the electrical grid is just one calamity away from potentially becoming a grid-down blackout situation.
Even more ominous is the fact that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recently warned about cyberattacks involving, you guessed it: the same types of ETO equipment that Schneider Electric manufactures.
In other words, the FBI is setting the stage, possibly through predictive programming, for major calamities to come by claiming that there will soon be cyberattacks involving the very same equipment produced by Schneider Electric that will be delayed at least through Q1 2024.
“The reason this is so weird is this company is very good at planning,” an industry insider is quoted as saying about the situation. “They supply billions of dollars in critical components.”
“They aren’t perfect, but they usually have a plan when they announce something like this. Not this time. The plans behind the announcement letter (shown below) are very shallow. They got the note out way before anyone on their teams knew what is going on. Many questions with no answers. That is very weird.”
Is another world war coming?
In a notice to the company’s partners, Senior Vice President Charles Buckley explained that, starting on December 7, all current shipment schedules of ETO products will be revised. Existing Q1 orders will be extended later into the year “to level-set production across several plants due to high demand and persistent supply chain challenges for these complex customized solutions.”
“This measure is expected to provide more accurate and reliable communication to customers and significantly reduce or eliminate the need for multiple delay notifications,” the letter reads. “We anticipate a delay of up to 20 weeks for several of our product lines.”
According to Buckley, order intake has greatly exceeded industry expectations and material availability. Much of this pressure is coming from fast-growing U.S. market segments including semiconductors and electric vehicles (EVs), the latter of which involve expansion of infrastructure, manufacturing, and batteries.
“These segments require domestic and global raw materials such as resin, plastics, specialty metals, and electronics, which are also needed in the electrical equipment industry,” the letter goes on to explain.
“U.S. domestic investments in infrastructure projects (water, utility, airports), and geopolitical tensions are additional pressures on supply, impacting the reliability of upstream supply and shipment schedules.”
Some speculate that this is just a cover story, and that this “wait and hold” for critical infrastructure is to allow Schneider Electric room to step in and replace damaged critical infrastructure following a cyberattack, as the FBI is warning could occur.
Another possibility for the 20-week delay is that certain projects are having to undergo a critical redesign, potentially due to the discovery of holes in existing security systems.
In recent weeks, dozens of news reports have surfaced about localized cyberattacks, including one involving water systems in Hawaii and another involving the Texas power grid.
“Preparations for a world war are clearly taking place in very many countries around the world,” one report suggests. “For the first time, U.S. citizens are likely to see the direct consequences of war on our own soil.”

Survival tips for preppers: Winter emergency preparedness checklist
Winter is just around the corner, but preppers know that the work doesn’t end when the air gets colder, and the snow starts to fall. Before SHTF, here are some tips that will help you prepare for common winter emergency scenarios such as extreme weather conditions or power outages. (h/t to FoodStorageMoms.com)
Stock up on essential supplies
Before winter starts, prep early and stock up on these essential items.
Food and water
Stock up on non-perishable food items that can last for an extended period, such as:
Canned goods (i.e., fruits, vegetables and meat)
Cereal
Dried fruits
Dry pasta
Pasta sauces
Spices
Trail Mixes
Whole wheat crackers
You should also have enough drinking water for the whole family for at least three days and more clean water for cooking, laundry and personal hygiene.
Medications and first aid
Prepare an adequate supply of prescription medications and a well-stocked first aid kit. Include useful items like antiseptics, bandages of assorted sizes and over-the-counter medications for common ailments.
Heating fuel and alternative heat sources
If you rely on a heating system other than natural gas and heating oil, stock up on enough fuel to last through the winter. Consider investing in alternative heat sources like a generator or space heaters for emergencies.
Winterize your home
Ensuring your home is properly winterized will keep you warm, save energy and prevent potential hazards. Winterizing preparation includes regularly cleaning heating and air condition ducts.
Inspect all windows and doors for gaps or cracks that could let cold air in and warm air out. Apply weatherstripping or caulking as needed to seal these areas. Adding insulation to your home can also help conserve energy and keep the cold out.
Clear debris from the gutters and downspouts to prevent ice dams and water backup once winter is in full force. This will help protect the roof and prevent potential leaks or damage.
Schedule a professional inspection and servicing of your heating system regularly to clean or replace filters, check for leaks and make sure everything is functioning properly. Regular maintenance of your heating equipment will ensure that the system operates efficiently throughout the winter.
Prepare emergency coms and lighting alternatives
A battery-powered radio will help you stay updated on weather emergency alerts and other emergency information.
Another option is to get a hand-crank radio so you can monitor winter storm warnings when the power is out and your battery supplies are low. Get a hand-crank radio that qualifies as a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) weather radio to get all the winter storm warning alerts from the National Weather Service. (Related: Survival essentials: Items you’ll need to survive a winter power outage.)
Flashlights are portable, but they will often need replacement batteries, especially if you have to use them for several hours at a time.
Prepare multiple flashlights for all family members, along with extra batteries. Place the flashlights and batteries around the house for easy access during emergencies.
Consider getting some solar flashlights and lanterns that you can charge by strategically placing them on windowsills that face the daylight sun.
Prepare your vehicles for emergencies
Winter weather can wreak havoc on roads, making driving conditions dangerous. Make sure to regularly check on your vehicle in case you need to bug out.
Inspect your tires for tread wear and keep them properly inflated. Consider switching to winter tires for added traction on slippery roads if the area is prone to snow and ice storms.
If your area is prone to severe weather, include tire chains in your car emergency kit. Learn how to install them properly, and make sure they are the right size for your tires. Check that any attachments needed are there and in good shape.
Check and top off fluid levels, including the antifreeze level in your radiator, windshield washer fluid and oil. Keep your gas tank at least above half full.
Before disaster strikes, prepare an emergency kit for your car, including items such as blankets, an ice scraper, jumper cables, a snow shovel, non-perishable snacks and at least one set of dry clothes.
Prepare before SHTF and stock up on essentials so you have what you need in case of a long-term power outage or winter storm.
