McCarthy As Speaker, Trump Owns The House
America First Congress has flexed it's muscles. They have won control over Congress and Trump leads the way.
After four days and 15 votes, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has become the Speaker of the House, but only after making numerous concessions to a group of conservative Republicans who believed he would be too accommodating to uniparty interests.
The final vote occurred after Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) voted 'present' during the 14th vote, leaving McCarthy one vote short of victory. McCarthy approached Gaetz angrily after the vote, and Rep. Mike Rogers had to be restrained when he attempted to intervene.
During the final vote, enough holdouts voted 'present' to bring the required number of votes low enough for McCarthy to win around midnight. According to Rep. Andrew Ogles (R-TN), McCarthy agreed to several conditions in order to secure the votes.
Ogles, who had not yet been sworn in, revealed that his absence from voting in a previous round was planned and that he waited to see that everything was going according to plan before changing his vote to McCarthy in the initial round.
According to Ogles, the main focus of the negotiations was to establish new rules for Congress that had been changed significantly over the years. He emphasized that the rules of a game often determine the outcome. Ogles shared a list of some of the items that had been roughly negotiated, though he noted that the details can be important.
As has been reported, it will only take a single congressperson, acting in what is known as a Jeffersonian Motion, to move to remove the Speaker if he or she goes back on their word or policy agenda.
A “Church” style committee will be convened to look into the weaponization of the FBI and other government organizations (presumably the CIA, the subject of the original Church Committee) against the American people.
Term limits will be put up for a vote.
Bills presented to Congress will be single subject, not omnibus with all the attendant earmarks, and there will be a 72-hour minimum period to read them.
The Texas Border Plan will be put before Congress. From The Hill: “The four-pronged plan aims to ‘Complete Physical Border Infrastructure,’ ‘Fix Border Enforcement Policies,’ ‘Enforce our Laws in the Interior’ and ‘Target Cartels & Criminal Organizations.'”
COVID mandates will be ended as will all funding for them, including so-called “emergency funding.”
Budget bills would stop the endless increases in the debt ceiling and hold the Senate accountable for the same.
Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) said in a statement that the anti-McCarthy representatives "changed the way the government will be funded" and "changed the way committees will be formed." She also listed several votes that were secured, including term limits, the fair tax, and the Texas Border Plan. Boebert criticized President Biden for calling the speakership process "embarrassing for Republicans"
"How sad is it that us governing as the founders intended looks embarrassing to Democrats?" Bobert asked, adding "I'll tell you what's embarrassing. 40-year high inflation is embarrassing. 5 million illegals crossing our southern border is embarrassing/ Surrendering to ISIS and fleeing Afghanistan is embarrassing. Having a president that cant' finish his sentences is embarrassing."
"It’s safe to say that we believe there ought to be specific, concrete limits on spending attached to a debt ceiling increase," said Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) on Thursday.
"There will be no clean debt ceiling increase, that’s for sure," said Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA),
It is unclear whether the House will hold an investigation into the events of January 6, though it is possible that it could be part of the new "Church" committee. In the meantime, The Hill reports that chairmanships on subcommittees will still need to be earned.
Another major concern for centrist Republicans throughout the week’s marathon negotiations was the conservatives’ push to win more subcommittee gavels for themselves — an idea that infuriated those already in line for those seats.
Bacon had called it “a non-starter,” particularly among the more moderate Republicans who have worked their way up the ladder into those seats.
“If you’re talking about chairmanships and things like that, they’re gonna have to still earn it,” Bacon said. “I call it affirmative action for [the] smallest of the caucuses to put them in leadership roles when they’ve not earned it. We believe in a merit-based system on the GOP side.”
Rep. Ann Wagner (R-Mo.), who has served in the House since 2013, also highlighted the “seniority process” for chairmanships.
“Everybody has to work their way through the seniority process and earn positions on both committees and gavels and things of that nature,” she said. -The Hill
"These concessions have been agreed to by our conference, and ultimately I believe it’s going to lead to a more people-driven legislative process," said Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA). "It’s about restoring more power and decision making to the members."
How does this fit into Trump’s plan?
This is where it gets strategic. Trump was on the phone negotiating with both sides of the Republicans. He was the shadow man flexing his power over the establishment. We all knew McCarthy would betray Trump and the Republicans and organize the House towards the same agenda we have seen over the last decade.
The 20 Freedom Caucus members in my belief were acting in strategy with President Trump. Trump endorsed McCarthy in exchange for promises of what would happen in 2024 and various investigations. Trump and everyone else knew McCarthy would not hold up to his end of the deal.
So how do you control McCarthy?
You show him your power. The last few days have been all due to Trump’s influence over members of Congress. This has sent a message to the establishment that if they want to play ball, they have to play Trump’s game. With the Jeffersonian Motion in place, American First Congressmen and the Freedom Caucus can remove McCarthy from Speaker position if he backtracks on his word. From these tough negotiations we can see a Bill on Term Limits on Congress, the convening of a committee similar to the “Church Committee” to investigate all the intrusions done by the WH, FBI and IC on the First Amendment. We are also going to see massive investigations into Hunter Biden’s Laptop, Quid Pro Quo Joe and possibly even the 2020 Election Fraud.
What this will do is open the flood gates to the American Public to begin to see the truth of the swamp and their levels of corruption. “You can’t tell the people, you have to show them”. With this setting the precedent in 2023, it paves the wave for a Trump 2024 Run on remedying this corruption, draining the swamp and restoring America.
In my opinion, this was a counter-coup by Trump and American First to take back our country, so far it has been successful.
