EU “Carbon Tax” on Chinese and Indian Imports could spark a Global Economic “Cold War”
The European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (“CBAM”), or simply “carbon tax”, is an attempt to force the rest of the world to follow the “garden’s” guidelines on “environmental issues”. The law has been heavily criticised by India and China, both of which are massive production economies. The two Asian giants believe this is effectively an act of economic warfare.
In January 2023, the European Parliament and EU Council agreed to CBAM which was applied to the import of certain product groups to the EU starting 1 October 2023.
CBAM is one of the elements of the EU Green Deal, the goal of which is to “reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030.” CBAM is aimed at equalising the price of carbon paid for EU products operating under the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) and imported goods.
One of the most common ideological tropes of the contemporary political West is its apparent obsession with environmentalism. The belligerent power pole simply adores to use it as a way to “prove” its supposed “civilizational superiority” over any other country that doesn’t share the same obsession. The much-touted “garden” has started dozens of neo-colonialist wars against “jungles” around the world, but there’s no concern for the environment and pollution when it comes to the spreading of “freedom, democracy and human rights”. The “garden’s” bombs and cruise missiles are “obviously no threat” to the natural habitat of thousands of endangered species or an issue when it comes to their preservation.
And yet, the political West still insists on its “moral superiority”, so much so that it’s seeking to codify it in a way that affects its relations with the entire world. Namely, the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), or simply “carbon tax”, is an attempt to force the rest of the world to follow the “garden’s” guidelines on “environmental issues”. The law has been heavily criticised by India and China, both of which are massive production economies. The two Asian giants believe this is effectively an act of economic warfare and a new trade barrier that doesn’t take into account the vastly different stages of socioeconomic development. Neither of the two countries is willing to renounce growth and development.
For instance, China is making unprecedented improvements in the lives of its citizens. In order to continue this path, Beijing needs to give its economy the necessary freedom and resources. And exactly the same can be said about India. Both the China Iron and Steel Association (“CISA”) and the Indian Commerce Minister have openly spoken out against CBAM. Both countries are taking steps to ameliorate the negative impact of the latest EU tax, but are not hiding their contempt for it. They see it as a sinister way to at least slow down their economic development. On the other hand, Brussels keeps insisting that the new scheme is of critical importance to its plans to achieve zero carbon emissions across six earmarked industries.
According to OilPrice, the CBAM tax regime recently moved into what some legal experts dub the “transition phase”. Namely, since October 1, importers of various commodities (including steel) into the EU need to report the carbon emissions of their products. By 2026, the said importers will also be subject to legal fees. The EU aims to impose CBAM on non-Western countries with significant carbon emissions, but these countries see it as a way to undermine their economic development. And while the stated goal of the “carbon tax” is to force producers to reduce carbon emissions, what it will actually accomplish is an additional increase in the cost of steel, aluminium and other strategically important commodities.
For its part, China has been very vocal regarding CBAM. A few days ago, its steel association called it “a new trade barrier”. According to Reuters, CISA stated that it wants more talks with the EU on the matter. The Chinese organisation also insists that “the new ‘carbon tax’ fails to take into account the different phases of development in different countries”, adding that “the levy goes against the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities”. And indeed, many experts predict that CBAM would be the main culprit behind the rising costs of commodities, with the exact numbers going anywhere from 4% to 6%, if not more. This is without even taking into account the effect on other industries.
Understandably, CISA is worried that this would be more than enough to render Chinese exports nonviable. India also shares the same concern and disapproves of the controversial new “carbon tax”, claiming that it would also effectively destroy the competitiveness of its EU-bound export products. Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal recently also criticised CBAM and predicted that the EU would soon realise its mistake, forcing it to stop its implementation. The effort to tackle the “carbon tax” issue isn’t limited to government bodies, as there are also meetings between trade associations and manufacturers that are working together to find the best solution to CBAM.
Just like Beijing, New Delhi also pointed out how the “carbon tax” doesn’t take into account the different stages of socioeconomic development in various countries. Minister Goyal also stated that the Indian government would find a solution, most likely a domestic tax tailored specifically not to negatively affect the country’s economy, while reducing carbon emissions. This would also render CBAM obsolete and, thus, unnecessary. On the other hand, Beijing is likely to respond with its own restrictions on EU exports to China, which could have severe consequences on the already troubled European companies. All this could lead us to an economic “Cold War” that would affect the whole world.

House Funding Bill Passes Thanks To Democrats, Averting Government Shutdown
Update (1801ET): Democrats stepped in to save the day on Tuesday, helping House Speaker Mike Johnson avert a government shutdown despite opposition from Republicans in the Freedom Caucus who opposed the bill due to a lack of offsetting spending cuts.
According to Punchbowl News' Jake Sherman, more Democrats voted for it than Republicans.
The legislation now heads to the Senate, where both Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Mitch McConnell (R-KY) gave it their full-throated support as noted earlier.
According to a Tuesday statement by Schumer, the Senate will work to pass it "as soon as possible," after which it will head to President Joe Biden's desk for a signature.
Along the lines of what Sherman said;
Passage of the legislation marks an early legislative achievement for Johnson, who was elected to the Speakership less than a month ago after three weeks of standstill in the House following former Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) removal from the role.
That ouster was caused in large part by McCarthy’s decision to put a “clean” continuing resolution on the floor and pass it with help from Democrats — similar to Johnson’s course of action this week.
But hardline conservatives said they would give Johnson some breathing room this time around — despite opposing his stopgap bill — citing his nascent Speakership.
“He’s had two weeks to pass it; his predecessor had since January and then he jammed us up against the Sept. 30 deadline,” said Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), one of the eight Republicans who voted to oust McCarthy.
Trouble, nonetheless, looms for Johnson and his fractious House GOP conference as they stare down two funding deadlines and try to pass their remaining five appropriations bills, which have run into trouble on the floor and in committee.
Johnson plans to tackle Ukraine funding next, which has become a contentious issue among Republicans.
"I’ve been drinking from Niagara Falls for the last three weeks," Johnson said on Tuesday. "This will allow everybody to go home for a couple of days for Thanksgiving, everybody cool off — members have been here for, as Leader Scalise said, for 10 weeks, this place is a pressure cooker. And so I think everybody can go home, we can come back, reset, we’re gonna get our group together, we’re gonna map out that plan to fight for those principles."
Good luck with that.
House Speaker Mike Johnson's new stopgap funding bill designed to avert a government shutdown on Friday is expected to head to a vote today, marking Johnson's first big vote as head of the chamber.

McCarthy slammed with ethics complaint after allegedly shoving GOP lawmaker who ousted him
Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., is calling for a House ethics investigation into former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., for allegedly assaulting another GOP lawmaker, Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., in a U.S. Capitol hallway earlier Tuesday.
Burchett had accused McCarthy of having "elbowed [him] in the kidneys" when walking past him along with his security detail at the end of a members-only House GOP Conference meeting. McCarthy said any contact they made was an accident. Burchett said it was "a cheap shot by a bully."
"Needless to say, this incident deserves immediate and swift investigation by the Ethics Committee. This Congress has seen a substantial increase in breaches of decorum unlike anything we have seen since the pre-Civil War era," Gaetz wrote in a letter to House Ethics Committee Chair Michael Guest, R-Miss.

"I myself have been a victim of outrageous conduct on the House floor as well, but nothing like an open and public assault on a Member, committed by another Member. The rot starts at the top."
Gaetz and Burchett were two of eight Republicans who voted with Democrats to oust McCarthy from the speakership last month.
Burchett told reporters he believed McCarthy targeted him "100% on purpose," adding, "He didn't see any cameras. He didn't think anybody was paying attention. But [Claudia Grisales] from NPR was paying attention."

Gaetz wrote in his ethics complaint that Burchett "is within his rights to decline to press charges against Rep. McCarthy."
"Given Rep. Burchett’s comments on the matter, and the statements of public witnesses, I request the House Committee on Ethics to proceed immediately with an investigation into the facts of today’s incident, including interviewing, under oath, the alleged assailant and assailee, and any witnesses," Gaetz wrote.
The Florida congressman, meanwhile, is the subject of his own probe by the House Ethics Committee over allegations of sexual misconduct and misuse of his funding.

Burchett told reporters earlier that he would not take any action against McCarthy.
Asked about the incident later, McCarthy told the press, "I guess our elbows hit as I walked by. I didn't punch anyone."

Trump Appointed Federal Judge Strikes Down Biden’s ATF AR-15 Gun Ban
A federal judge appointed by Trump has just rejected an effort by Biden’s ATF to prohibit AR-15 pistols with arm braces.
Despite the escalating crime rates, the Democrats remain determined to disarm law-abiding Americans.
Gun sales are skyrocketing at the moment, fueled by the shock and concern of Americans witnessing the attacks on mostly unarmed Israelis by Hamas in October.
As reported by the Washington Examiner:
Judge crushes ATF AR-15 gun ban
A federal judge late Wednesday gave millions of gun owners breathing room when he slammed the Biden administration’s effort to ban a big slice of the AR-15 market.
U.S. District Court Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk blocked the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives from enforcing its ban on AR-15 style “pistols” equipped with arm braces, calling the agency’s new rule unlawful.
“Public safety concerns must be addressed in ways that are lawful. This rule is not,” said the Trump-appointed judge.
The nine-page decision is the latest to challenge the ATF over its rule requiring millions of owners of braced guns to register the firearms and pay a $200 tax, or face 10 years in jail. Kacsmaryk’s decision is the most sweeping, covering the whole country.
At issue is the ATF’s rule issued earlier this year to ban the braces on the guns. The agency claims it turns a pistol into a dangerous rifle and supporters have cited how the weapons have been used in a handful of mass shootings.
However, for years before its ban, the ATF allowed the braces to be sold, and they have become so common that some estimate 40 million or more are in circulation, making the AR-style pistol one of the most commonly held firearms in the nation.
The image below displays the guns in question:
Now, more than ever, people are concerned about safeguarding themselves and their families. However, Democrats persist in advocating for disarming the public.

WATCH: As the World Is Moving Closer to Nuclear Conflict Joe Biden Claims Climate Change ‘Is the Ultimate Threat to Humanity’
On Tuesday, Joe Biden spoke about his administration’s initiatives to address what he refers to as ‘climate change’ from his fake White House set in the South Court Auditorium.
During his remarks, the 80-year-old Biden mumbled his words and coughed persistently.
At one point in his statement, Joe Biden declared that climate change represents the “ultimate threat to humanity.”
“You know, I’ve seen first-hand what the reports make clear. The devastating toll of climate change and its existential threat to all of us and is the ultimate threat to humanity – climate change,” Biden said without providing any evidence to back up his claims.

House Speaker Mike Johnson Opens the Door for Big Pharma
Hear it? What’s that sound? “Whoop-whoop-whoop.” It’s Washington’s revolving door, allowing corporate interests to come directly inside Congress to pervert public policy.
That door is now spinning fast, because there’s a new boss operator in Congress. He’s Mike Johnson, who was recently unanimously chosen by Republicans to be their Speaker of the House. He’s a corporate dream — an affable ultra-conservative from Shreveport, Louisiana, who consistently backs the plutocratic agenda of Big Business over workers, the poor, consumers and most other Americans.
Moreover, Johnson maintains it was God (!) who elevated him to his new position of authority, and that the Bible will guide his policy views. Well, selected parts of the Bible — don’t expect much mercy, justice, or peacemaking from this hard-core laissez-faire ideologue.
For example, guess who he’s chosen to be his director of policy? Big Pharma’s top Washington lobbyist!
Dan Ziegler has been the chief influence peddler for a dozen multibillion-dollar drug giants, including Eli Lilly, Merck, and Pfizer. Ziegler has furiously opposed every legislative effort to stop the rampant price gouging by profiteering drug makers — even though 90 percent of Americans are clamoring for Congress to clamp down on their rip-offs. But we don’t control the revolving door — Mike does.
Johnson piously cloaks himself in both the Christian gospel and libertarian myth of “free markets,” yet he has consistently pushed government action to restrict competition and protect drug monopolies. Now, in his first substantive action as speaker, he is literally bringing Big Pharma inside to sit beside him in the seat of legislative power.
Drug pricing reform will soon come up for a vote in Congress. Before Mike’s lobbyist buddy tells him what to do, let’s demand that he re-read the Sermon on the Mount.

At Least 4 More Attacks On US Forces Since Latest US Airstrikes In Syria
Authored by Dave DeCamp via AntiWar.com,
US troops based in Syria have come under attack at least four times since the latest US airstrikes in eastern Syria were launched on Sunday, Task & Purpose reported on Monday.
The Pentagon announced Sunday that it launched strikes against facilities "used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iran-affiliated groups" in eastern Syria’s Deir Ezzor province. It marked the third round of US airstrikes since US troops in Iraq and Syria have come under a spate of attacks in response to President Biden’s backing of Israel’s war in Gaza.
Image Credit: al-Asad military base in western Iraq, via AP
A Pentagon official told Task & Purpose that US forces in Syria came under attack three times on Sunday after the US airstrikes and one time on Monday. The White House has said one purpose of its airstrikes is to "deter" further attacks on US troops, but it’s clear the strategy has failed.
The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it recorded six attacks on US forces on Monday alone, but the report is not confirmed. The four incidents confirmed by the US official brings the total number of attacks on US bases in Iraq and Syria since October 17 to 52. The Pentagon has said at least 56 US troops have been wounded.
An umbrella group of Shia militias known as the Islamic Resistance of Iraq has taken credit for most attacks on US forces. Militia leaders have said they won’t back down unless Israel’s onslaught on Gaza comes to an end. Iran supports the Shia militias that operate in the region but denies any role in the attacks on US forces.
The US has about 2,500 troops in Iraq and 900 in Syria, where it backs the Kurdish-led SDF. The occupation of eastern Syria is opposed by the government in Damascus, and the continued US military presence in Iraq is opposed by many elements in Iraqi politics.
Many observers have pointed out that with a crisis like the Gaza war, US troops occupying Syria are vulnerable as prime targets for Iran-aligned militias in the region...
After the US launched a drone strike in January 2020 that killed Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani and Iraqi militia leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis in Baghdad, Iraq’s parliament voted to expel US troops, but the US refused to leave. In an effort to placate anti-US factions, the US formally changed its presence in Iraq from a combat role to an advisory role in December 2021 but did not withdraw any troops.

Conservative Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán: ‘Immigration and Terrorism Go Hand in Hand” – ‘We Don’t Want Mini Gazas in Budapest!’
The truth shall set us all free – even if it’s hurtful.
Conservative champion Viktor Orbán, Prime Minister of Hungary, is never shy about speaking his mind about some uncomfortable or unpopular truths.
Asked by American Media how to stop the war in Europe, Orbán didn’t miss a beat to say ‘We all need Donald Trump to save the world’ – just imagine how popular it makes him to the Brussels EU crowd.
When it comes to mass migration, he leads one of the very few countries whose social fabric was not torn apart by inviting young military-aged males from conflict zones.
In an interview with Hungarian radio, the Prime Minister was his usual blunt self when he said that ‘so far, Europe has not been allowed to talk about the fact that migration and terrorism go hand in hand’.
Orbán said that ‘a new secret service report’ proves that migration and terrorism are in fact closely related.
Hungary Today reported:
“He continued by pointing out that the intelligence report sets out a fearful horizon and confirms that we must do what we have been doing so far, that is protecting our borders. Migration and terrorism go hand in hand. Migrants are becoming increasingly aggressive and are trying to get through the border fence with ever more brutal means, Viktor Orbán said.
The Prime Minister added: once we let the migrants in, they cannot be removed.”
National unity is needed on the issue of migration, he said, reminding the listeners that Hungary didn’t commit the same mistake as much of Europe back in 2015.
“’We should be thankful that we had our wits about us when we needed them’, he said. ‘When the whole of Europe was calling for opening our borders, we had to have our hearts and our minds in the right place’, the prime minister said.”
The task now, as he sees it, is not to allow Brussels to impose on Hungary its notably failed policies.
“‘For the sake of our children, we must do everything we can to prevent this from happening, so that they do not have to live in the conditions we are already seeing in many places’, he said. ‘Any admission of illegal migrants will lead to a situation where it will not be possible to live peacefully in Hungary’.”
He said this is the case in many Western countries, as a result of the 2015 migration wave.
“We do not want to tell other nations how they should do it, but we also do not want them to tell us how we should do it. We want tolerance,” he pointed out. As Viktor Orbán explained, “They want to force us to build migrant ghettos, and we have to fight that”.
He had a familiar quote at the end: ‘Hungary belongs to the Hungarians, jobs belong to Hungarians, the rules must be made by Hungarians’. Familiar?
Fox News reported:
“In a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, Orbán also said he does not want ‘mini Gazas’ in Hungary’s capital of Budapest.
‘We made a tolerance offer to Brussels: every country can deal with #migration the way they want to, but they cannot force #Hungary to copy the failed migration policies of Western Europe’, he wrote. ‘We don’t want #terrorism, gang wars and mini Gazas in Budapest!'”

Israeli Military Says Its Forces Have Entered Gaza Hospital Read more: Israeli Military Says Its Forces Have Entered Gaza Hospital | Newsmax.com
The Israeli military says its forces have entered Gaza’s Shifa Hospital, the site of a lengthy standoff.
The army has surrounded the facility as part of its ground offensive against Hamas. Israeli authorities claim the militant group conceals military operations in the facility. But with hundreds of patients and medical personnel inside, it has refrained from entering.
Early Wednesday, the army said its forces were carrying out “a precise and targeted operation against Hamas in a specified area” in the hospital. It gave no further details but said it was taking steps to avoid harm to civilians.
“In recent weeks, the IDF has publicly warned time and again that Hamas’ continued military use of the Shifa Hospital jeopardizes its protected status under international law,” it said.
“Yesterday, the IDF conveyed to the relevant authorities in Gaza once again that all military activities within the hospital must cease within 12 hours. Unfortunately, it did not.”
Hamas has denied the Israeli accusations that it uses the hospital for cover.

FCC To Vote On Biden Plan To ‘Give Administrative State Control Of All Internet Services And Infrastructure’
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will vote on November 15th on a plan from the Biden administration that would give the administrative state effective control of all internet services and infrastructure in the country, FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr said.
“Next week, the FCC will vote on President Biden’s plan to give the Administrative State effective control of all Internet services and infrastructure. I oppose President Biden’s sweeping, unprecedented, and unlawful plan,” Carr said last week.
“So last month, President Biden gave the FCC its marching orders. The President called on the FCC to implement a one-page section of the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (Infrastructure Act) by adopting new rules of breathtaking scope, all in the name of ‘digital equity,'” Carr said in a statement.
“For the first time ever, those rules would give the federal government a roving mandate to micromanage nearly every aspect of how the Internet functions—from how ISPs allocate capital and where they build, to the services that consumers can purchase; from the profits that ISPs can realize and how they market and advertise services, to the discounts and promotions that consumers can receive. Talk about central planning,” he continued.
“Needless to say, Congress never contemplated the sweeping regulatory regime that President Biden asked the FCC to adopt—let alone authorized the agency to implement it. Nonetheless, the Commission will vote next week, on November 15th, to put President Biden’s plan in place. A draft of the FCC order implementing President Biden’s plan is available here. I oppose the plan for several reasons,” he added.
“President Biden’s plan hands the Administrative State effective control of all Internet services and infrastructure in the country. Never before, in the roughly 40-year history of the public Internet, has the FCC (or any federal agency for that matter) claimed this degree of control over it,” Carr’s statement continued.
“Indeed, President Biden’s plan calls for the FCC to apply a far-reaching set of government controls that the agency has not applied to any technology in the modern era, including Title II common carriers. The closest analog would be the heavy-handed rules the FCC applied to the Ma Bell telephone monopoly during the height of the New Deal era—a copper wire period of time when it was hard to distinguish between government regulator and telephone provider,” the statement added.

(WATCH) Nikki Haley Endorses Digital ID Enslavement Agenda
In a Fox News appearance, Nikki Haley fully endorsed the globalist digital identification enslavement agenda.
The push for digital IDs is among the greatest threats to individual liberty and freedom to Americans.
Bill Gates, Klaus Schwab, and the rest of the globalist crew want every human on Earth to have a digital identity for complete control and surveillance of the masses.
Haley showed her hand and revealed she unquestionably supports their agenda.
“Social media companies, they have to show America their algorithms. Let us see why they’re pushing what they’re pushing,” Haley said.
The next statement is the kicker.
“Every person on social media should be verified by their name,” Haley said.
“First of all, it’s a national security threat. When you do that, all of a sudden people have to stand by what they say. And it gets rid of the Russian bots, the Iranian bots, and the Chinese bots,” she continued.
“I am no lawyer but isn’t this blatantly unconstitutional? Free speech includes anonymous speech,” Christina Pushaw commented.
Watch Nikki Haley’s remarks:
Haley is a greater threat to the liberties and freedoms of Americans than Russia, China, or Iran.
These comments prove she fully backs the globalist agenda of digital surveillance.
She will claim “national security threat” while destroying your inalienable rights.
Her comments are a stark reminder of the egregious Patriot Act used to terrorize Americans.
“The largest bank in America, JP Morgan Chase, is backing Haley. -She is as pro-war as it gets -She is pro-censorship -She is pushing internet Real ID,” Clint Russell commented.
“She is clearly the preferred candidate of the evil ruling class that has destroyed America,” he added.

4 Employees of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department found dead — apparent suicides — within 24 hours
One retired and three current employees of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) were found dead within a 24-hour period beginning Nov. 6. The sheriff’s department is handling each case as separate investigations of possible suicide.
According to a statement from the department, the first death was reported at around 10:30 a.m. in the Valencia neighborhood of Santa Clarita. Two hours later, at about 10 minutes before 1 p.m., L.A. County detectives were called to a second death in Lancaster at the northern end of the county. Over 12 hours later, before 6 p.m., detectives were once again called to a home in Stevenson Ranch, just to the west of Santa Clarita.
Finally, homicide detectives were sent to a hospital in Pomona in the eastern fringe of the county where the fourth apparent suicide was brought and declared dead at around 7:30 a.m. the next day.
"Our LASD family has experienced a significant amount of loss and tragedies this year," said Sheriff Robert Luna. "We are stunned to learn of these deaths, and it has sent shockwaves of emotions throughout the department as we try and cope with the loss of not just one, but four beloved active and retired members of our department family.
The names of the four deceased current and former LASD employees have not been released. All that the county has divulged is that, of the four individuals, there are three men and one woman. Details surrounding the deaths remain unclear. But despite the close timing and locations of the deaths, the sheriff's department is handling each as separate investigations.
Law enforcement suicide data
According to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, emergency first responders, law enforcement officers and firefighters are more likely to die by suicide than in the line of duty. This was highlighted as a significant public health problem in the recent Surgeon General's "Call to Action to Implement the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention."
In an article posted in February by Boston University researcher Anthony Ford, law enforcement officers have a 54 percent higher risk of committing suicide than the civilian population. He added that in 2020, 116 police officers died by suicide, which rose to 150 the year after in 2021.
These figures were updated in 2021 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in "Law enforcement worker suicide: An updated national assessment" published in the journal Policing. The article reported that results from the National Occupational Mortality Surveillance (NOMS) database indicated 264 suicide deaths among law enforcement workers – making them 69 percent more likely to die by suicide in the United States.
In June 2022, USA Today reported that the First Responders' Brigade (FRB) and other nonprofit organizations are working to "combat stigma and provide resources to help those struggling to find support to combat feelings of isolation."
FRB, for instance, hosts retreats for first responders experiencing depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress or suicidal ideation from their line of work.
"First responders who are experiencing depression or anxiety from the job need to know there is nothing wrong with them. They are having a normal reaction to the abnormal things we see and hear on the job every day. There are people and organizations ready to stand guard while you heal," said retired police officer Mick Yinger, the FRB executive director.

Leftist News Group’s Editor Arrested for Child Porn, Victims as Young as Three, Dozens of Videos Distributed.
Former editor-in-chief of The Recount, Slade Sohmer, was charged for the possession and distribution of child pornography, according to Massachusetts authorities. The 44-year-old reportedly disseminated “hundreds of child pornography images and videos,” as reported by The Berkshire Eagle. Sohmer, who also worked as a camp counselor for a New York City-based nonprofit, was arrested at his residence in Otis, Massachusetts after a search warrant led to the seizure of his electronic devices. The former editor pleaded not guilty to two charges of possession and two charges of dissemination of child pornography upon his release on a $100,000 bail.
The Recount is a far-left site founded by The Circus’s John Heilemann, who hired Sohmer as editor-in-chief. While Sohmer’s LinkedIn page still lists him as the Editor-in-Chief, The Recount has recently been sold to a far-left Gen-Z news network and its “Team” page is now blank. In 2018, Buzzfeed appeared to celebrate Sohmer discussing his sexuality with 10-year-olds.
Court documents referenced in The Berkshire Eagle report allege Sohmer’s phone contained highly disturbing video clips depicting boys as young as three being sexually assaulted by adults. Authorities initially became aware of the alleged activities through a tipoff from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, which informed the Massachusetts State Police Cyber Crime Unit about a suspicious video circulated on Snapchat in late September of last year.
Upon investigation, the video was linked back to an IP address believed to originate from Sohmer’s home internet account, and on October 18th, Berkshire police confiscated electronic devices from the premises. Authorities allege that one of these devices, Sohmer’s phone, was used to send out 53 videos containing child pornography. There are also claims that Sohmer was filmed directing a minor to perform sexual acts, prompting Assistant District Attorney Marianne Shelvey to suggest further charges may be pending due to the child’s identification.

New Jersey SUED for secretly HARVESTING blood from newborns without consent from parents
The Institute for Justice (IJ) has filed a lawsuit against the State of New Jersey alleging that a secret government program is allowing for the harvesting and saving of newborn blood without the knowledge or consent of the babies' parents.
Whenever a child is born in New Jersey, the state government can collect and use DNA from the blood samples "for any reason, without informed consent from parents," IJ says.
The case charges that state law in New Jersey currently requires that whenever a baby is born, its blood must be collected and tested for various diseases, a policy similar to what other states require.
"But, after the testing is over, New Jersey's Department of Health keeps the leftover blood for 23 years," IJ warns about what differentiates New Jersey's newborn blood-testing policies from those of other states'.
"The state does not ask parents for their consent to keep their babies' blood, failing to even inform parents that it will hold on to the residual blood. The only way parents could learn about such retention is by proactively looking it up on one of the third-party websites listed on the bottom of the card they're given after the blood draw."
According to IJ, the State of New Jersey can do pretty much anything it wants with newborn baby blood for 23 years. This includes selling it to third parties, giving it to law enforcement without a warrant, or even "selling it to the Pentagon to create a registry – as previously happened in Texas," the IJ legal team added.
In order to collect and save baby's blood, hospitals must be required to first get consent from the parents
What IJ wants to see changed is New Jersey's right to informed consent policies, which currently exclude a child's parents from the equation as medical workers proceed to collect, save and do who-knows-what with baby's blood for several decades under the cover of darkness.
"Parents have a right to informed consent if the state wants to keep their children's blood for decades and use it for purposes other than screening for diseases," said senior IJ lawyer Rob Frommer.
"New Jersey's policy of storing baby blood and DNA and using that genetic information however it wants is a clear violation of the Fourth Amendment rights of all New Jersey parents and their newborns."
Hannah Lovaglio, one of several plaintiffs in the case, also commented that she finds it incredibly disturbing that the State of New Jersey under existing law "can enter an incredibly intimate moment, the tender days of childbirth, and take something from our children, which is then held on to for 23 years."
"The lack of consent and transparency causes me to question the intent and makes me worried for my children's future selves."
Another lawyer for IJ by the name of Christie Hebert concurs. She finds New Jersey's baby blood-collecting process uniquely problematic compared to similar laws in other states because there are no protections in place to even try to prevent wrongdoing with babies' blood.
"What makes New Jersey's program so uniquely disturbing is the complete lack of safeguards for future abuse and the lack of consent, which leave the program ripe for abuse," Hebert is quoted as saying.
"Parents should not have to worry if the state is going to use the blood it said it was taking from their baby to test for diseases for other, unrelated purposes."
