CBS News Reporter Makes "Dark" Prediction of 'Black Swan Event' In 2024
Authored by Paul Joseph Watson via Modernity.news,
CBS News investigative reporter Catherine Herridge made a “dark” prediction that 2024 will produce a ‘Black Swan Event’ which shocks the world.
Herridge made the call during a round table discussion when she was asked by host Margaret Brennan about what we could expect to see unfold over the coming year.
“Well, mine’s a little dark,” Herridge stated.
“I just feel a lot of concern that 2024 may be the year of a black swan event. This is a national security event with high impact that’s very hard to predict.”
A black swan event is defined as a major catalyzing event that seems unpredictable at the time, but with the benefit of hindsight seemed inevitable.
The event must have an extreme impact when it occurs, with examples including the subprime mortgage crisis of 2007-2008.
A black swan event can also be positive, but in this context Herridge asserted that it would have negative consequences for America.
“There are a number of concerns- concerns, I have that factor into that,” explained Herridge.
“Not only this sort of enduring, heightened threat level that we’re facing, the wars in Israel, also Ukraine.”
“And we’re so divided in this country in ways that we haven’t seen before. And I think that just creates fertile ground for our adversaries like North Korea, China and Iran. And that’s what concerns me most,” she added.
Host Brenna agreed with the investigative reporter, responding, “A lot of people are up at night with that concern, Catherine. At least in this town.”

How 2023 has been the ‘year of the brink’ and 2024 could be worse
Image Credit: Ukrainian soldiers cover their ears to protect them from the noise of Russian tank shelling in the Zaporizhzhia region. Libkos/AP.
It could have been immeasurably worse. But holding back from the brink in 2023 has simply deferred vast crises to 2024. The post-Covid world is exhausted, cash-strapped, but ultimately more fraught than for decades.
Overshadowing it all will be a flagging hyperpower, at best distracted with presidential elections, at worst tearing itself apart in voting disputes and political extremism.
The likelihood the United States will be occupied by its own traumas amplifies each risk. The geopolitical given of a US response will be absent, fuelling authoritarian ambition, or a radical upending of the global order. 2024 could make 2023 seem rational and sober.
Image Credit: Rockets are fired toward Israel from the Gaza Strip on Saturday, October 7. Fatima Shbair/AP.
First, it is important to take comfort that Hamas’ brutal attack on Israel, and Israel’s brutal assault on Gaza in pursuit of Hamas, has not yet led to the regional conflagration many had feared. The Iran-backed Islamist movement Hezbollah seems to be limiting its involvement so far to manageable and predictable tit-for-tat exchanges around the border between Lebanon and Israel.
It is notable for a group founded, on the surface, to resist the Israeli occupation, to decide that the death of almost 20,000 Gazans – of whom only a third, at most, were militants, according to one IDF official’s estimate – did not merit its intervention.
Hezbollah may still be exhausted after expending experienced fighters in Syria and beyond over the past decade and has probably seen less Iranian cash in recent years. Its leadership may have calculated that a clash with Israel would spell the wide-scale bombing of Lebanon, render the group much less popular in its homeland, and potentially weaken it further.
Or it may simply be that large-scale conflict with Israel is not in the interests of Hezbollah’s main backer, Iran. Tehran, most analysis suggests, did not order, appreciate, or have foreknowledge of Hamas’ October 7 attack. Iran is still reeling from internal dissent not seen for decades, economic turmoil, and probably also from the death of its pre-eminent military figure, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps chief Qasem Soleimani.
Image Credit: Palestinians inspect the rubble of the Yassin Mosque, destroyed after it was hit by an Israeli airstrike. Adel Hana/AP.
Iran has turned its back on the nuclear deal former US President Donald Trump tore to pieces. It is enriching uranium at an alarming pace – as far as we know publicly. It is perhaps at a point where the “breakout” time for it to enrich enough uranium for a nuclear weapon – something it avows it does not want – might be only 12 days, US officials assess.
Could an Iranian nuclear bomb be the next crisis to hit the region? Is Hezbollah being held in reserve to respond if Israel and the US attack Iran’s nuclear resources? Or are the Middle East’s authoritarian states so focused on calm, unity against Iran, and economic cooperation that the Palestinian cause is something to rage about, not act upon?
The first decision of major concern in 2024 may come from Israel’s most right-wing government yet. Does it use this moment of relative internal unity and public US backing to shun all advice from its allies, and try to attack Hezbollah?
The Israeli public may be steeled enough by October 7 they may stomach the likely losses caused by the inevitable waves of rockets Hezbollah would send in response. The US might be forced to deploy military assistance, given its public display of unity. But the damage to both sides and the civilian toll would be astronomical. And Israel’s politicians are not displaying caution at present. This potential clash has been building since the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war, a clear understanding growing with each year that has passed that it would be monstrous when it came, and perhaps better avoided. But has that calculus changed for Israel?

‘They Want To Get Us Killed’: Two GOP House Reps, Multiple Conservatives SWATTED Over Christmas Holiday
Two Republican U.S. House Representatives and multiple conservative commentators were the targets of swatting efforts over the Christmas holiday.
“Swatting” is a malicious act where false reports of violence are illegally made in bad faith by criminal actors, prompting police to be summoned to one’s home. Perpetrators hope the call leads to an armed confrontation where the swatting victim could potentially be killed or at the very least, left terrified.
Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) reported being swatted last Thursday on Dec. 21, and again on Christmas Day, making it her eighth swatting.
“I was just swatted. This is like the 8th time,” Rep. Greene described on X. “On Christmas with my family here. My local police are the GREATEST and shouldn’t have to deal with this.”
Rep. Brandon Williams (R-NY) also revealed he was swatted on Christmas.
“Our home was swatted this afternoon. Thanks to the Deputies and Troopers who contacted me before arriving. They left with homemade cookies and spiced nuts! Merry Christmas everyone!” reported Rep. Williams on Monday.
Popular pro-Trump conservative X user CatTurd announced he’d been “swatted” on Dec. 22.

NYC pro-Palestinian protesters attempt to put damper on Christmas while clashing with police: reports
Hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters attempted to cancel Christmas in New York City on Monday, as they carried a blood-covered mock Nativity scene across the Big Apple and chanted, "Christmas is canceled here," according to reports.
Along with chanting the cancelation of Christmas, protesters shouted, "Long live the intifada," and "NYPD KKK, IDF they’re all the same," among other things.
The protesters mobbed Rockefeller Center where the popular Christmas Tree and ice skating rink are located and where people go to enjoy the holiday.
One of the signs being carried by a protester read, "While Ur Shopping Bombs are Dropping," the New York Post reported. Another read, "No Joy in Genocide," which was splattered on top of a faux Nativity scene splattered with what appeared to be fake blood and carried on the shoulders of demonstrators.

According to the New York Post, a few scuffles broke out as night fell onto the city, including near St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Fifth Avenue, sending cops rushing through the crowd.
Police later arrested people near Grand Central Station and Union Square as clashes continued between protesters and officers.
In one video posted on X, an officer is seen holding his throat, and it is later revealed he was punched in the throat by a protester.

A spokesperson for the NYPD told Fox News Digital the investigation into Monday's protest was ongoing, adding that several arrests had been made, and one officer sustained a shoulder injury.
Earlier in the day, pro-Palestinian protesters gathered near the respective Virginia and Washington, D.C. homes of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, two of President Biden’s top foreign affairs advisors.
Last Week, pro-Palestinian protesters marched through New York City and disrupted transportation at major hubs like Penn Station, Grand Central Station and the Port Authority Bus Terminal.
Last month, anti-Israel activists disrupted the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City by chanting and singing "Palestine will be free," while others glued themselves to the street along the parade route.
Israel vowed to wipe out Hamas after the militant group launched its Oct. 7 surprise attack, in which at least 1,200 people died in Israel and around 240 were taken captive by militants back to Gaza.
More than 17,700 Palestinians have been killed since the war began, according to the Health Ministry in Hamas-run Gaza.

US launches airstrikes in Iraq
US forces have carried out airstrikes targeting Kataib Hezbollah militants in Iraq after blaming the group for a drone attack that injured three American soldiers in the country’s Kurdish region.
The airstrikes were launched on Monday night against three facilities used by the Hezbollah affiliate, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement. The operation came in response to multiple attacks against US troops in Iraq and Syria, including a drone strike earlier on Monday at the Iraqi Kurdish region’s Erbil Air Base.
“Early assessments indicate that these US airstrikes destroyed the targeted facilities and likely killed a number of Kataib Hezbollah militants,” CENTCOM said. “There are no indications that any civilian lives were affected. The US military will continue to evaluate the effectiveness of these strikes.”
However, the Iraqi government reported 19 casualties, including civilians who were injured and a security service member who was killed. The office of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani condemned the airstrikes as a “clearly hostile, unconstructive act that does not serve the interests of long-term common interests.” It added that the strikes “infringe upon Iraq’s sovereignty and are deemed unacceptable under any circumstances or justification.”
American targets in Iraq and the US forces illegally occupying Syria have come under multiple drone and rocket attacks since the Israel-Hamas war began in October. One of the troops injured in Monday’s attack in Erbil was left in critical condition.
The retaliatory US airstrikes were “intended to hold accountable those elements directly responsible for attacks on coalition forces in Iraq and Syria and degrade their ability to continue attacks,” CENTCOM General Michael Erik Kurilla said. “We will always protect our forces.”
Houthi rebels based in Yemen also have launched attacks against Western targets amid the Israel-Hamas war, targeting US Navy warships and commercial vessels in the Red Sea. The Pentagon last week launched an operation with the UK, France, and other allies to help secure shipping traffic after major transport firms routed their vessels away from the region.
Biden was briefed on the Erbil attack and his options for retaliatory strikes on Monday, while spending the Christmas holiday at the Camp David presidential retreat in Virginia. “The president places no higher priority than the protection of American personnel serving in harm’s way,” White House National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said in a statement. “The United States will act at a time and in a manner of our choosing should these attacks continue.”

Apocalypse Now? Russian Tactical Nuclear Weapons in Position in the Territory of Belarus
Among the many disturbing geopolitical signs of tension between Russia and the Western powers, very few are as disturbing as the displacement of Russian tactical nuclear weapons to the territory of Belarus.
The positioning of the nukes is intended as a defense against both Ukraine and Poland.
Tactical nuclear weapons are designed for battlefield use and carry a smaller payload for specific location attacks – as opposed to much more powerful strategic intercontinental nuclear missiles.
In the old world, these weapons should give pause and make NATO rethink its push eastward by seeing that powerful retribution can be expected.
Nowadays, it does seem like nuclear deterrence has lost its persuasion power – which is very concerning since an attack is a real possibility in the current geopolitical moment.
The board is set – the pieces are moving. And the nukes arrived in Belarus.
Associated Press reported:
“The president of Belarus said Monday that Russia has completed its shipments of tactical nuclear weapons to his country, an initiative that raised strong concerns in neighboring Poland and elsewhere in the region.
President Alexander Lukashenko said at a meeting of a Moscow-led economic bloc in St. Petersburg that the shipments were completed in October, but he did not give details of how many weapons were sent or where they have been deployed.
Tactical nuclear weapons, which are intended for use on the battlefield, have a short range and a low yield compared with much more powerful nuclear warheads fitted to long-range missiles. Russia said it would maintain control over those it sends to Belarus.”
Lukashenko stated that hosting Russian nuclear weapons in his country is a move to check aggression by Poland.
While Russian troops based in Belarus invaded Ukraine from the north in the war’s opening days, Belarusian forces themselves are not known to have participated.
But what can we know about the ‘tactical’ nukes?
Sky News reported:
“They can have a yield as small as about 1 kiloton, significantly less than the 15 kiloton-yield of the US bomb used on Hiroshima during the Second World War. […] The devices are compact and can be discreetly carried on a truck or plane.
[…] Belarus has 25 underground facilities – built during the Cold War – for nuclear-tipped intermediate-range missiles that can withstand missile attacks, Mr Alesin added.
Only five or six such depots could actually store tactical nuclear weapons, he said, but the military operates at all of them to throw Western intelligence off.”

A Shrunken Arsenal: The Alarming Decline of U.S. Munitions
This story originally was published by Real Clear Wire
By Joe Buccino
Real Clear WireAs fighting rages in the Middle East and Europe and China looms as a threat, America’s dwindling arsenal of high-end munitions emerges as an alarming crisis. The United States, once a fortress of military might, now faces the prospect of a munitions deficit in an era brimming with uncertainties. This desperate situation demands the development of a national critical munitions stockpile.
European weapons makers are overwhelmed and struggling to meet Ukraine’s consumption of more than 6,000 artillery rounds each day during peak counteroffensive fighting. Ukraine’s ability to stave off defeat and defend itself against the Russian invasion largely depends on an uninterrupted supply of these rounds. Ukrainian forces are conserving their ammunition supply, which might lead to postponements in upcoming counterattacks. Over the coming months, this shortage of ammunition could compel Ukrainian military units to make difficult choices regarding the allocation of resources across various frontlines, focusing on areas where maintaining control is most crucial and potentially allowing minor territorial losses in less critical sectors.
o supplement Ukraine’s massive ammunition requirements, DoD pulls munitions from its own war reserve stocks. Further compounding the matter: In an attempt to extract stricter immigration policies, House Republicans are blocking a congressional aid package for Ukraine.
Last year, to help meet the demand for Ukrainian munitions, the Pentagon tapped into a stockpile of American 155mm rounds in Israel, sending hundreds of thousands to Ukraine. These rounds, stored for decades in Israeli bunkers, are to provide an Israeli qualitative military edge, a pillar of American policy in the Middle East. Now Israel needs them back to target Hamas’s command cells in its war in Gaza. The U.S. is supporting two countries, both of which use enormous amounts of 155-millimeter artillery and other ammunition in wars that may stretch on for many months. Running out of ideas, last month the Pentagon established a team to examine American inventories to identify ammunition for Israel. Earlier this month, Senator Deb Fischer, a senior Senate Armed Services Committee member, remarked that the U.S. must expand its munitions production capability.
Once a conflict begins it can lead to extraordinarily high munitions consumption. The fighting in Ukraine should serve as a warning regarding production of munitions the U.S. would need in a conflict with China over Taiwan. The U.S. must resolve the extensive issues within its munitions manufacturing processes ahead of a conflict with China.
American forces require an enormous volume of critical munitions to fight against a technologically advanced military force. This ammo is also necessary to equip partner forces in Asia, such as Australia, with the long-range anti-ship munitions needed to defeat the Chinese flotilla or prevent it from ever embarking. The stockpile also ensures that American industrial output is sustained in times of crisis and preserves the United States’ global military edge.
The U.S. also provides Taiwan with munitions sufficient to blunt an initial Chinese blow. This strategy– codified by the 1979 Taiwan Relations Act – involves ensuring Taiwan has sufficient defense capabilities against a Chinese attack. The U.S. arms Taiwan only to a level that does not disrupt the diplomatic equilibrium between Washington and Beijing. But, there is growing concern in the Pentagon and the Indo-Pacific that Taiwan does not have enough of the high-tech munitions to hold off a PRC attack. Here again, the shrinking U.S. munitions reserve represents a risk.
In a U.S. fight with China, American forces will likely burn through munitions stocks within three weeks. Even with a surge of the U.S. industrial base, replenishing stocks will take more than six months. In the interim, the U.S. will be without sufficient bombs and bullets for its cutting-edge systems, such as fifth-generation fighter jets and High Mobility Rocket Launcher Systems, and anti-air missiles needed to protect our nuclear aircraft carriers and bases in the Pacific.

WHO’s Tedros Declares War on Meat, Traditional Farming (VIDEO)
World Health Organization (WHO) head, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus declared war on meat and traditional farming.
“Our food systems are harming the health of people and planet. Food systems contribute to over 30% of greenhouse gas emissions, and account for almost one-third of the global burden of disease. Transforming food systems is therefore essential,” Tedros said in a video message published last Thursday for the COP28 official event.
WATCH:
Earlier this month the United Nations Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) rolled out its food guidance for first-world countries in an effort to reduce carbon emissions.
The message to ‘rich’ countries? Consume less meat.
“Nations that over-consume meat will be advised to limit their intake, while developing countries — where under-consumption of meat adds to a prevalent nutrition challenge — will need to improve their livestock farming, according to the FAO.” Bloomberg reported a few weeks ago.
The globalists are pushing for commoners to eat bugs, weeds and synthetic ‘meat’ because bugs “consume fewer resources than traditional livestock.”

FDA VACCINE COVERUP EXPOSED! Court Allows FDA To Hide Vaccine Injury & Death Records
Image Credit: Pavlo Gonchar/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images
Josh Sigurdson reports on recent news exposing the FDA as the Food & Drug Administration has been given allowance by US District Judge Reggie Walton to essentially hide vaccine data from the public due to “extraordinary circumstances.”
The FDA has recently been caught having knowledge at the time of vaccine rollout that the injections caused severe heart problems including myocarditis.
It seems that the more information that comes out, the more governments are willing to cover up vaccine data despite a constantly growing public outcry demanding answers.
There is little to no justice after nearly 4 years since lockdowns began. 3 years since injections were rolled out, causing mass death worldwide despite obvious foreknowledge of said injuries and deaths.
Now, we learn that not only are mask mandates returning in many places worldwide but vaccine mandates are still being enforced in Hollywood while Brazil forces infants to be injected or their families lose welfare.
We are living in a truly sick anti-human world and that is the goal of the establishment. We must fight back.

Here We Go Again: Scientists Propose Radical ‘Sunshade’ Plan to Fight ‘Climate Change’
Written by Andrew Jose of The Western Journal.
A group of scientists has proposed building a giant space curtain to reduce global warming and shield Earth from solar radiation.
Spanning as much as 4 million square kilometers, this megastructure aimed to fight “climate change” would be located about 1 million miles from Earth, in an area known as the Sun-Earth Lagrange-1 point, according to The Messenger, a news website launched in May.
The point marks the area between the sun and the Earth where the combined gravitational forces of the star and planet create equilibrium that allows a spacecraft to be “parked,” according to Space.com.
Upon installation, the structure could reduce the amount of heat from the Sun trapped on Earth due to greenhouse gases by deflecting sunlight toward outer space, Space.com reported.
That said, according to The Messenger, it is unclear how such a solar curtain would affect the light Earth receives from the Sun or whether the blocking of sunlight heading to Earth will bring forth unexpected consequences.
The idea is being proposed by scientists who are part of the Planetary Sunshade Foundation, a group whose website declares that “climate change is getting worse.”
The amount by which global temperatures would fall once the structure is in place is “variable depending on how long it takes to cease carbon emissions, how quickly carbon can be removed from the atmosphere, and whether society wishes to partially mitigate global warming or restore pre-industrial temperatures,” Planetary Sunshade Foundation research director Liz Scott noted in a 2022 report.
Pointing to solar sail technology — the use of reflective sails to propel a spacecraft through space using sunlight — the foundation believes that the “rapid” pace of technological development in space launch systems has reduced the cost of “sending materials and people into space dropping fast, changing the scope of what is possible,” The Messenger reported.
Planetary Sunshade Foundation argues there are two options for constructing the planetary sunshade, according to the group’s website.
During the primary phases, the project could be constructed using Earth-launched architecture, the group’s website stated.
Toward the final phases, construction could take place in space using resources also taken from space, including those from “the Moon or near-Earth asteroids,” according to the foundation’s website.
“A project this large influences the technology used to build it. We can start at the scale we’re able to, and learn how to build a sunshade as we go,” the foundation said.
The Planetary Sunshade Foundation’s proposed solar curtain is not the only project aimed at mitigating climate change by blocking out the sun.
Geoengineering — a similar project backed by tech billionaire Bill Gates — aims to block out portions of solar radiation headed for Earth by adding particles into the stratosphere, according to Forbes magazine.
The objective of spraying such particles into the atmosphere is to bring about a cooling effect on temperatures — an effect that happens to be the subject of the 2013 science-fiction movie “Snowpiercer,” currently streaming on Netflix.
In addition, according to a White House report published in July, the Biden administration is open to looking at the alteration of sunlight reaching Earth as a possible solution to lower global temperatures, Politico reported.
“A program of research into the scientific and societal implications of solar radiation modification (SRM) would enable better-informed decisions about the potential risks and benefits of SRM as a component of climate policy, alongside the foundational elements of greenhouse gas emissions mitigation and adaptation,” the White House report stated.
“SRM offers the possibility of cooling the planet significantly on a timescale of a few years.”

REPORT: Tesla Robot Allegedly Suffers Malfunctions and ‘Attacks’ Engineer at Texas Factory, Leaving ‘Trail of Blood’
A robotic “malfunction” at Tesla’s Giga Texas factory resulted in a violent encounter where an engineer was allegedly attacked by one of the company’s robots, resulting in significant injuries and leaving a ‘trail of blood.’
According to the Daily Mail, while working on software programming for non-functional Tesla robots, the engineer was suddenly pinned against a surface by a robot tasked with manipulating aluminum car components, with its metal claws inflicted an injury that left an ‘open wound’ on the worker’s left hand.
“Two of the robots, which cut car parts from freshly cast pieces of aluminum, were disabled so the engineer and his teammates could safely work on the machines. A third one, which grabbed and moved the car parts, was inadvertently left operational, according to two people who watched it happen. As that robot ran through its normal motions, it pinned the engineer against a surface, pushing its claws into his body and drawing blood from his back and his arm, the two people said,” The Information reported.
Quick action was taken by Tesla workers who intervened and triggered the emergency shutdown button to halt the malfunctioning robot and prevent further injury to the engineer.
This incident came to light through a 2021 injury report filed to Travis County and federal regulators, which Daily Mail reviewed. Tesla is legally required to report such incidents to ensure the continuation of state-provided tax incentives.
Despite claims by Tesla that the engineer did not require time off following the event, an attorney representing the factory’s contract laborers suggests otherwise. Evidence hints at possible underreporting of workplace accidents, casting doubt on the official records.
Daily Mail reported:
The injury report, which Tesla must submit to authorities by law to maintain its lucrative tax breaks in Texas, claimed the engineer did not require time off of work.
But one attorney who represents Tesla’s Giga Texas contract workers has told DailyMail.com she believes, based on her conversations with workers there, that the amount of injuries suffered at the factory is going underreported.
This underreporting, the attorney said, even included the September 28, 2021 death of a construction worker, who had been contracted to help build the factory itself.
‘My advice would be to read that report with a grain of salt,’ the attorney, Hannah Alexander of the nonprofit Workers Defense Project, told DailyMail.com.
‘We’ve had multiple workers who were injured,’ Alexander said, ‘and one worker who died, whose injuries or death are not in these reports that Tesla is supposed to be accurately completing and submitting to the county in order to get tax incentives.’
Elon Musk has yet to issue a formal statement in response to these allegations.
Netizen believes that the robot did not actively “attack” a worker. Instead, the incident occurred because the engineer neglected to deactivate the machine before servicing it.

Gordon Chang: China Working on Bioweapons Targeting Human Brains
On Friday, China expert Gordon Chang joined Newsmax’s Carl Higbie FRONTLINE and said China is experimenting with what appears to be biological weapons targeting human brains.
The claims were detailed in a report by The Washington Times.
China‘s military is developing advanced psychological warfare and brain-influencing weapons as part of a new warfighting strategy, according to a report on People’s Liberation Army cognitive warfare.
The report, “Warfare in the Cognitive Age: NeuroStrike and the PLA’s Advanced Psychological Weapons and Tactics,” was published earlier this month by The CCP Biothreats Initiative, a research group.
“The PLA is at the forefront of incorporating advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, brain-computer interfaces and novel biological weapons into its military strategies,” the think tank’s analysts concluded.
The Times’ report included recent studies by the Chinese Communist Party on biological weapons. These weapons include those designed to induce sleep or sleep-related disturbances in enemy troops, those that would create a connection between the brain and external devices, and pharmaceuticals designed to impair people genetically and physiologically.
Chang explained, “These are biological weapons, and China is a party to the Biological Weapons Convention that would outlaw this.”
“This whole idea of ‘genetic drugs,’ although it hasn’t really been fleshed out, clearly is a biological weapon. And certainly, the other weapons that we’ve been talking about in this Washington Times report of Bill Gertz is essentially biological-influenced,” Chang stated.
“So really, what we are talking about are things which China has no right to do. And we should be calling them out on this.”
“China has a biological weapons program, we know that with Covid-19, and we still have yet to challenge them over this.”
Watch here.
This comes at a time when the number of Chinese migrants crossing the southern border illegally has reached record highs.
Border Patrol recorded 4,767 encounters with migrants from China crossing the border illegally in November alone.
According to Customs and Border Patrol data, 24,000 encounters of Chinese migrants crossing the southern border illegally were recorded in fiscal year 2023. There were 1,970 encounters in the fiscal year 2022 and 323 in the fiscal year 2021.

Invasive Asian ‘Cow-Killing’ Tick Has Rapidly Crept Across America, CDC Warns

The Asian longhorned tick is rapidly gaining a foothold in the United States and “poses a serious threat to livestock” according to the USDA.
Since its discovery and proper identification in 2017, the coverage area of the tick has spread to 19 U.S. states, the USDA reported.
The deadly consequence of their expansion was shared by Ohio State University researchers in the Journal of Medical Entomology: Two cows and one large bull died from exsanguination by the ticks, meaning drained of blood to the point of death.
Each unfortunate cow likely endured tens of thousands of bites.
While only the size of a sesame seed, these tiny ticks have huge population potential, with the ability to form massive colonies in a short amount of time.
While collecting samples in the twenty five acre Ohio pasture, the Ohio State University researchers were able to collect almost 10,000 ticks in just 90 minutes.
Extrapolating the collection data led the researchers to estimate the population in the entire field exceeded 1,000,000 ticks.
According to researchers, no other species of tick in North America can populate like this species can.
The tick’s secret weapon is the ability for females to lay 2,000 eggs at a time — without the necessity of a male.
Part of assessing the risk posed by these exponentially reproducing ticks includes an analysis of disease spread to both livestock and humans.
According to the CDC, the Asian longhorned tick has been found on both animals and people but, thankfully, seems to prefer animal hosts to people.
The CDC also said the invasive tick is unlikely to contribute to the spread of Lyme disease, according to one experimental study.
However, these ticks have the ability to “carry and spread” certain diseases, should they come in contact with them.
Interestingly, there is no risk of human illness from the Asian longhorned tick in Australia and New Zealand, where the tick is invasive but has established itself as an exotic species, according to Everyday Health.
The CDC said research is ongoing as scientists try to learn more about the tick’s pervasiveness and potential risk to both livestock and people.
“It’s possible that the Asian longhorned tick found here won’t carry the same types of pathogens [or any pathogens] as it has in other parts world, but we are paying attention to it,” said Mark J. Soloski, PhD, professor of medicine at Johns Hopkins Medicine.
Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia have all reported the presence of the Asian longhorned tick, according to the CDC.

‘Chilling’: Smart Toys Are Increasingly Recording and Tracking Your Kids, Warns Watchdog Report
Written by Ole Braatelien of The Western Journal.
Santa’s watchful eye will have an unyielding rival this Christmas: smart toys, according to a November watchdog report.
In an article titled, “Trouble in Toyland 2023,” the U.S. Public Interest Research Group Education Fund warned of the threat of increasingly popular toys loaded with artificial intelligence.
The report listed a number of playthings and their concerning spy-like technology, and also gave advice as to what to do about them.
Nowadays, even “simpler” toys and games are equipped with data-gathering A.I. They’re often rigged with cameras and microphones for facial and vocal recognition and even GPS tracking.
Many toys, like miniature soccer balls and play doctor’s kits, come with apps and can connect to the internet or Bluetooth.
Some are geared toward children as young as 3 years old, according to the report.
For example, Fisher Price’s Smart Toy Bear was meant for children 3 – 8.
The bear could listen, talk and record conversations for future reference, according to PIRG. But in 2019, the product was discontinued because of the app’s vulnerability to hacking.
In October, an 11-year-old New Jersey girl was kidnapped by a man who allegedly contacted her on Roblox, a popular gaming platform. In this case, she was later found safe, but she was more than 100 miles from her home, according to The New York Post.
Roblox denied the two met on the platform, according to the Daily Mail.
“It’s chilling to learn what some of these toys can do,” said the PIRG report’s co-author, Teresa Murray, in a news release. “Smart toys can be useful, fun or educational, but interacting with some of them can create frightening situations for too many families.”
Privacy isn’t the only concern. Health is potentially at risk, too.
For instance, PIRG mentioned the unknown effects of virtual reality and Meta Quest headsets. Because the technology is still so new, it is too early to know how it will affect developing brains.
“It’s just not worth the risk right now,” Dr. Mark Bertin, a developmental pediatrician and assistant professor of pediatrics at New York Medical College, told PIRG.
The report recommended a number of precautions parents should take to protect their children:
As a basic step, parents should know whether the toy connects to the internet.
If the toy has a microphone or camera, parents should know when it’s recording and how they will know it’s recording.
The report also suggested looking at the toy’s specific privacy policy online, not just the company’s policy in general.
Parents should research the toy company to see whether it has a history of controversy or privacy concerns. Online reviews of the product are also a good way to find complaints and red flags raised by other parents, according to PIRG.
Like it or not, smart toys have become a reality.
The global market for them grew to $16.65 billion in 2023, up from $14.11 billion in 2022, according to Research and Markets, a global market research firm.
It’s expected to grow to $35.11 billion by 2027.
