What to Watch in Biden’s State of the Union Address

President Joe Biden will deliver his third State of the Union address on March 7, using the opportunity to allay concerns about his age and persuade Americans that he can serve a second term as the country barrels toward a high-stakes election in November.
Viewers will mostly be evaluating President Biden based on his performance, not just his message. Is he making mistakes? Will there be any verbal blunders? Is he appearing energetic and in control? How will he confront hecklers? His actions will be carefully monitored. Hence, it will be a crucial address for the 46th president as he works to restore public trust in his age and mental acuity.
“It’s going to be an incredibly important moment, and the president takes that very, very seriously,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters on March 6.
Here’s what to look for during the State of the Union address.
Age Message
As President Biden prepares to officially secure his party’s candidacy, an increasing number of his supporters have expressed worries about his age and energy.
Historian Jon Meacham, who assisted the president in crafting his speech this year, believes that the president needs to address concerns surrounding his age during the State of the Union.
“Of course, they’re legitimate concerns,” he told CNN in a recent interview.
“I understand that you can’t tell half the country that they’re just wrong to worry about something. So, he’s got to show us and not just tell us. I’ve talked to him, and I’ve never had any doubts about his capacity. But why would you believe me? So he’s got to show us.”
A New York Times/Siena College poll released last week showed that 61 percent of respondents believe President Biden is “just too old” to be an effective president. The poll was conducted two weeks after a special counsel raised concerns about his mental sharpness and characterized him in a report as a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”
Another poll by Bloomberg News/Morning Consult found that President Biden trails former President Donald Trump, the Republican frontrunner, in a hypothetical general election in all swing states, including Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, and Wisconsin. Many respondents expressed concerns about President Biden’s age.

SHOWDOWN: Supreme Court Will Hear Trump Immunity Argument on April 25
The Supreme Court will hear Trump’s presidential immunity argument on April 25.
It could take months for the Supreme Court to issue a ruling so Special Counsel Jack Smith’s January 6 case against Trump may or may not begin before the 2024 election.
Supreme Court watchers say the high court is expected to issue a ruling in late June.
Judge Tanya Chutkan postponed the March 4 trial date indefinitely as Trump’s immunity argument makes its way through the courts.
Earlier this month President Trump asked the US Supreme Court to pause the immunity ruling in Jack Smith’s January 6 case in DC.
A federal appeals court stacked with Biden judges previously denied Trump immunity in Jack Smith’s DC case.
The three-judge panel for the DC Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on Trump immunity claims: Florence Pan (Biden appointee), Michelle Childs (Biden appointee), and Karen Henderson (George W. Bush appointee).

If Trump is reelected, Americans are planning to flee in droves
Image Credit: Prostock-Studio/Getty Images; Jenny Chang-Rodriguez/BI
Late last year, my wife and I closed on a deal for an apartment in a hilltop town in Umbria. Soon after, I posted a question for my fellow participants in a Facebook group called Expats in Italy: "Is it just my imagination, but is there an uptick in Americans, in particular, looking to purchase property in Italy?" As the responses poured in, many of them sounded a distinct thematic note.
From a woman in Montana who was planning to move to Tuscany: "Yes, it's true! I bought a hilltop village home … for a song compared to US prices. Don't want to be in US anymore. It's expensive and sick of all the political crap and shootings."
From a woman in Texas: "An insurrection by a narcissist who couldn't accept election loss combined with his gun and abortion policies made moving more of a necessity than just a dream."
From a man in Tennessee: "I'm an American ready to flee America for Italy. I doubt I'm alone."
Not alone, indeed. Granted, my unscientific survey was limited to a self-selected group of people with a declared fancy for one particular foreign country renowned for its artistic and cultural treasures, scrumptious cuisine, and exquisite landscapes. Still, it was striking that the specter of Donald Trump — a looming shadow I hadn't even mentioned in my question — was on so many minds.
Every four years, as Americans gird themselves to choose a president, there's talk, mainly among Democrats, of leaving the country. I'm off for Canada if unacceptable candidate X wins! And every four years, the promised exodus fails to materialize. It's mostly just therapeutic venting.
This time is different.

Waste of the Day: NIH Awards $200,000 Grant for Transgender Voice Training
This story originally was published by Real Clear Wire
Topline: The National Institutes of Health is paying $214,000 for three researchers to create a “transgender voice training” app, according to Fox News.
Key facts: The study aims to address “voice dysphoria,” which researchers say causes lower quality of life when a person’s voice does not match their gender identity.
Researchers will coach 40 trans women to help change the pitch and resonance of their voice to sound more feminine.
The participants will meet once a week with a speech-language pathologist. Half of them will use a generic voice training software and half will use the app specifically made for transgender people, so that results can be compared.
If tests are successful, the software will be released to the public for free.
The researchers — a professor from the University of Cincinnati and two speech scientists from New York University — have each already received taxpayer money for similar voice dysphoria studies, according to the College Fix.
Background: The study focuses on “gender-affirming voice and communication training,” a service that is already dipping into taxpayers’ wallets. As of 2022, 13 states’ Medicaid covered the training, with 18 more having no clear policy on the coverage.

Democrat Dolton, Illinois Mayor Vetoes Resolution to Investigate Her Own Corruption of Misusing Funds for Lavish Trips, $1 MILLION Security Detail – Mayor Previously Came Under Fire for Shutting Down Businesses That Don’t Donate to Her

Dolton, Illinois Mayor Tiffany Henyard on Monday reportedly vetoed an investigation, unanimously approved by The Dolton, Illinois, village board, into allegations that she misused funds for lavish expenses and a costly $1 million security detail.
This is not the first time the Mayor has come under scrutiny for corruption.
As The Gateway Pundit reported last month, Tiffany Henyard came into the crosshairs of an FBI investigation for abusing her power after she shut down businesses that didn’t donate to her campaign.
One business owner told The New York Post that he made one contribution to Henyard, and her minions kept coming after him demanding more money, almost like how the mob extorts businesses for “protection money.” When he didn’t comply, mob boss Henyard shut down his trucking business.
She even dresses like a TV gangster when attending city meetings.
Earlier this year, The Gateway Pundit reported on the Mayor’s bizarre antics, which are so wild that some have compared it to something out of NBC’s Parks and Recreation, a wacky political satire sitcom.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Henyard put an illegal ordinance in place last year, ensuring that if she lost her election to be mayor in the upcoming elections, the future mayor’s salary would be reduced from over $200K to $25,000 — a nearly 90% decrease! However, the salary would remain unchanged if Henyard prevailed, reports FOX 32.

Boxing Superstar Ryan Garcia Shockingly Claims Evidence of Elite Child Trafficking — Alleges He was Forced to Watch Children Being Raped and Says He Has Video Proof (AUDIO)
Boxer superstar Ryan Garcia has come forward with harrowing allegations of elite child trafficking circles and disturbing personal experiences. The acclaimed boxer, known for his explosive speed and impeccable 24-1 record, is now at the center of a controversy that threatens to overshadow his upcoming fight against Devin Haney.

Europe is Struggling to Meet Green Hydrogen Goals, Send Money
WINNING: €22 Billion EU Government money spent to produce 20,000 tons of green hydrogen, at a price of €1.1 million per ton, or €1100 / kg.
What’s stopping Europe from reaching its clean hydrogen goals?
By Andrea Bolitho & Euronews
Published on 05/03/2024 – 17:00•Updated 06/03/2024 – 10:51Green hydrogen is predicted to be a leading renewable energy source in the future, but production in Europe must ramp up massively to hit targets.
While the EU has pinned green hydrogen as one of the fuels of the future and aims to generate 10 million tonnes while importing a further 10 million tonnes by the end of the decade, renewable hydrogen production in Europe was just 20,000 tonnes in 2022.
Furthermore, 96 per cent of hydrogen used across Europe in 2022 was made from natural gas, resulting in significant carbon emissions.
“We need a clear regulation and a clear permitting process, and we need access to the [energy] grid,” explained Carlos Fúnez Guerra, the Green Hydrogen Development Manager at Iberdrola.
Can Europe still reach its goal?
“The big question behind all of this is money and funds,” reminded Malvault.
The European Commission has implemented a clean hydrogen regulatory framework and is investing heavily, so far, it has provided €22 billion and counting.
…
But Malvault warned Euronews that more funding will still be needed to reach the EU’s targets.
…
What can I say? If only some of these affordable and economically viable climate goals could be achieved without spending so much taxpayer subsidy cash.

The Moon Economic Wars: Russia and China Plan a Nuclear Plant to Power Future Lunar Base
Space, the final frontier… for economic competition.
In plans that are not so dissimilar from NASA’s own publicized plans, Russia and China are now reportedly considering putting a nuclear power plant on the moon.
And not in some hypothetical future, either, but in a decade.
Yuri Borisov, head of Russia’s space agency Roscosmos is out in the public eye, stating that this may happen from 2033 to 2035.
Roscosmos isn’t on its best moment, after Luna-25, first moon mission in 47 years, spun out of control and crashed in the moon surface – but the Indian Space Agency had the very same problem, and two years later it successfully landed their first spacecraft.
So I guess one underestimates the Russian space program at their own peril.
According to Borisov, a nuclear power plant could one day allow lunar settlements to be built. He said that Russia and China had been jointly working on a lunar project, as Moscow contribute with its expertise on ‘nuclear space energy’.
Reuters reported:
“‘Today we are seriously considering a project – somewhere at the turn of 2033-2035 – to deliver and install a power unit on the lunar surface together with our Chinese colleagues, Borisov said.”

Former First Lady of Haiti Indicted in Husband’s Assassination, Prosecutors Claim She Attempted to Take Over Presidency
The former first lady of Haiti has been indicted in the assassination of her husband, President Jovenel Moise.
Judge Walther Voltaire has indicted former First Lady Martine Moise for being “complicit” in her husband’s 2021 assassination.
The judge made his decision after receiving evidence from two defendants who claimed Martine Moise had knowledge of her husband’s assassination plot but did not warn her husband due to her desire to become president herself.
Judge Voltaire also indicted dozens of others, including former Prime Minister Claude Joseph and the ex-chief of Haiti’s National Police, Léon Charles.

HAITI HELL: Rebel Leader Jimmy ‘Barbecue’ Chérizier Demands PM Henry Resignation, Threatens Genocide on the Violence-Plagued Nation – Henry Finally Shows up… in Puerto Rico!
It makes no sense anymore to call former Haitian elite cop Jimmy Chérizier a ‘gang leader’.
His heavily armed men control over 80% of Capital Port-au-Prince. They have successfully released almost 5K prisoners from jail. They attacked the main airport and the police academy, almost always overwhelming the police and army forces.
So, we can safely say: Jimmy ‘Barbecue’ Chérizier is a rebel commander – a successful one – and very possibly the next ‘military junta’ leader of Haiti, unless things change radically in the next days.
Chérizier declared yesterday (5) that Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry must resign. The alternative, he threatened, is an imminent ‘genocide’ in the Caribbean country.
InfoBae reported:
“’If Ariel Henry does not resign, the country is heading directly towards genocide. If the international community continues to support Ariel Henry, we are heading towards a civil war that will lead to genocide’, the former police officer warned.”

Would Haiti Benefit From Iridium Mines or Suffer More?
Precious metals are often in high demand by wealthy nations and individuals, but they are usually located naturally in economically deprived areas of the world. Unfortunately, the process of attempting to extract valuable minerals from the soil often leaves the land ravaged and ecosystems damaged.
In 2018, The New York Times claimed that due to Haiti’s extreme vulnerability, “mining could deal the country’s environment and economy a blow from which it would never recover.”
Haiti is part of the island of Hispaniola, while its neighbor on the same island is the wealthier Dominican Republic. Iridium, a precious metal that must be mined from underground, might be in demand in the severely ravaged island nation of Haiti, along with other precious metals like gold.
SOURCE: UNSPLASH
How mining could impact Haiti
In April 2020, eight farmers’ and workers’ rights organizations in rural Haiti signed a declaration stating that they didn't welcome Newmont Goldcorp returning to their country. The declaration said that “in the past, mining companies have increased operations in moments of crisis.”
